Lights, Flowers, Party!

There’s nothing like the right lighting to take a beautiful flower arrangement to the next level. Neon signs paired with floral arbours and installations will continue to be a popular look in the year ahead. If you’re on a budget, pillar candles, Edison bulbs or festoon lights will also work a treat alongside floral arrangements.

Let’s hear it for Coral

Blush has been a very popular tone in flower arrangements for the past few years but with the announcement of Living Coral as Pantone’s 2019 Colour of the Year, we’re likely to find peachy and apricot tones creeping into floral palettes to complement or even replace pinks. While we’re on the topic of colour, you can also expect to see darker, richer palettes becoming more popular.

Work with your venue

Installations remain on trend but now there is a very strong emphasis on creating displays that work with and enhance the specific venue. Instead of finding a picture of an installation on Pinterest and replicating it, do a venue walk-through with your florist and brainstorm how flowers could be used in that particular space. Interesting features like ledges, curving staircases, statement lights and roof beams can all inspire a unique floral statement.

If you’re on a budget but would love to have an installation, keep other floral decorations to a minimum and focus your efforts on creating one display with tons of wow factor.

Wild and textured

Arrangements in free-flowing, natural shapes remain popular but now textured elements are adding an extra dimension to this look. Pampas grass and cotton has been popping up a lot, but elements like dried flowers and foliage, furry proteas and banksias, gum nuts and seed pods can all create a textured effect.
