Casa Ixchel asa Ixchel fue diseñada por ALBERTO SCHUTTE + ARQUIC TECTOS pensando en un ambiente despreocupado, mismo que debe tener una casa en la playa, con espacios abiertos que se integran a la naturaleza, como una gran terraza frente a la alberca y la playa.

Está conceptualizada para escapar de la realidad desde el momento en que se está en la propiedad; da la sensación de adentrarse a un mundo de paz y serenidad; el interior, con sus grandes claros de puertas y ventanas deslizantes, que se ocultan en los muros, invita a convivir con la naturaleza.

Su arquitectura es sobria y elegante, pero al mismo tiempo con atmósfera relajada y acabados finos, como los utilizados en las antiguas haciendas de la zona, madera, pisos artesanales y el chukum, que es una resina del árbol del mismo nombre.

El diseño y confort de la casa fue concebido para satisfacer a huéspedes con las más altas exigencias y para ello también se instaló una cocina que cubre las necesidades de un chef para elaborar platillos para paladares finos.

La casa cuenta con grandes terrazas en la planta baja y alta, para disfrutar de la naturaleza, su alberca y su jacuzzi frente al mar.

Casa Ixchel asa Ixchel, designed by Alberto Schutte + Architects, was C devised on a carefree environment, like a house in the beach must be; with huge opened spaces mixed with nature and an enormous terrace facing the pool and the beach.

Conceptualized for escaping reality from the moment you arrive at the property, it gives sensation of entering into a peace and serenity world. The inside, with the large clear doors and sliding windows hiding behind walls, invites you to coexist with the nature.

The architecture is sober and elegant, but at the same time with a relaxing atmosphere and fine finishes, such as used in old haciendas of the area; woods, handcrafted floors and “chukum� (a resin of the tree with the same name).

The design and comfort of the house have been adapted for satisfying guests with the highest expectations, due to that, it was installed a kitchen that meets the needs of a chef to prepare dishes for fine palates.

The house counts with huge terraces on the first and upper floor, for enjoying nature, pool and the jacuzzi facing the sea.

A t the end of the 19th century, several inventors, including Thomas A. Ed-

ison, Emile Berliner and Eldridge Johnson made it possible to store the sound and reproduce it. A few decades later, a record industry is developing internationally, which produces and distributes all types of music and has its greatest expansion in the 1980s when the internet and digital media transformed the musical world again. These events changed our way of appreciating music in many ways, both in its production and distribution, as well as in its logic, scope and appreciation, of which I will focus only on a few aspects. The first is that music in general became a commodity of mass production and great benefits that acquires a logic of market with a large number of economic interests around. Like any industry, it needs to generate perceptions and a complex system of values and classifications to induce the massive consumption of its products: creation of brands, idols, fashions, segmentation of niches, etc. This logic applies to all types of music. One of the most negative effects of this logic is the alienation of taste.

A large majority of people know only the products that they have had access to through the industry and passively acquire their criteria values for a process that Erich Fromm called Socially Modeled Defect. The industry becomes the rector of musical criteria, often excluding, that prevent its consumer approach, appreciate and have an unbiased and spontaneous music that has not known or which has not been exposed by the industry.

cadas más tarde, se va desarrollando a nivel internacional una industria discográfica s, que produce y distribuye todo tipo de música y tiene su mayor expansión en la década de 1980 cuando el internet y los medios digitales transforman nuevamente el mundo musical. Estos acontecimientos cambiaron nuestra manera de apreciar la música en muchos sentidos, tanto en su producción y distribución, así como en su lógica, alcance y apreciación, de los cuales me enfocare sólo en algunos cuantos aspectos. El primero es que la música en general se volvió una mercancía más de producción masiva y grandes beneficios que adquiere una lógica de mercado con una gran cantidad de intereses económicos alrededor. Como toda industria, necesita generar percepciones y un complejo sistema de valores y clasificaciones para inducir al consumo masivo de sus productos: creación de marcas, ídolos, modas, segmentación de nichos, etc. Esta lógica se aplica a todo tipo de música. Uno de los efectos más negativos de esta lógica es la enajenación del gusto.

Una gran mayoría de las personas conocen solo los productos a los que han tenido acceso a través de la industria y adquieren sus criterios valores de manera pasiva por un proceso que Erich Fromm llamó Defecto Socialmente Modelado. La industria se vuelve la rectora de criterios musicales, muchas veces excluyentes, que impiden a su consumidor acercarse, apreciar y tener un juicio imparcial y espontaneo de la música que no ha conocido o la cual no ha sido expuesto por la industria.

Lo cual me hizo preguntarme ¿Cuanta historia de la música conocía ese muchacho? ¿cuáles son sus criterios musicales, estéticos filosóficos, críticos para atreverse a emitir juicio de esta naturaleza? Es un pequeño ejemplo entre miles en los que los portavoces de la industria, radio, televisión, revistas, han modelado el gusto musical desde la década de 1930 hasta nuestros días.

Desafortunadamente las percepciones se vuelven realidades para una gran de público que ve determinado su criterio musical por conceptos de alineación social tales como “La música del momento”, “la música de tu generación,” etc. Lo que experimentamos hoy día nos es deterioro del gusto musical, sino la prolongación de un fenómeno industrial iniciado hace bastantes décadas en el que el criterio primordial no es la apreciación musical sino el consumo de una mercancía y la difusión de los valores relacionados con ella. Afortunadamente, el fenómeno tiene otro aspecto, es que gracias a la industria de la música hoy en día está almacenado y en gran medida disponible, gracias al internet, el patrimonio musical de la humanidad con una gran cantidad de intérpretes. De esta forma podemos escaparnos de la enajenación simplemente ejerciendo nuestra capacidad de elegir, despertando nuestra curiosidad, volviéndonos permeables a lo que no hemos conocido y revalorando con mayor criterio lo que ya conocemos.

Posiblemente terminemos por preferir lo que ya conocemos, posiblemente no...

Pero este simple ejercicio nos hará un poco más críticos y definitivamente más libres.

Ishmael Flores is a plastic artist, born in 1988, in the State of Mexico.

Ishmael is a career agricultural engineer from UNAM, but his search led him to take several courses to become certified as a sculptor and in various techniques in painting. He is an artist very active in the cultural and artistic field.

Ishmael Flores is a figurative painter, with more than 7 years of artistic career.

It has more than 25 group exhibitions, in Mexico City, Zacatecas, the United States, Italy and Spain. He has exhibited in Museum of Modern Art Bicentennial

Ishmael es ingeniero agrícola de carrera por la UNAM, pero su búsqueda lo llevo a tomar diversos cursos para certificarse como escultor y en diversas técnicas en pintura. Es un artista muy activo en el ámbito cultural y artístico.

Ishmael Flores es un pintor figurativo, con más de 7 años de trayectoria artística.

Cuenta con más de 25 exposiciones colectivas, en la Cd. De México, Zacatecas, Estados Unidos, Italia y España. Ha expuesto en Museo de Arte Moderno Bicen-

Con respecto a su obra es de una elegancia nata, algunas de sus obras figurativas transportan a los salones y cafés vieneses de finales de siglo XIX, pero conservando identidad propia. En su obra encontramos liviandad y armonía, tanto en su trazo, como en su paleta. Predomina la figura femenina como heroína de cuentos medievales, el lado femenino que nos acerca a la conciencia y divinidad.

is estimados lectores y seguidores, El tema de esta edición, lo voy a dedicar a un vino muy difícil de lograr en su compra. Estoy escribiendo sobre el Romanee - Conti y de su Domaine.

El Domaine de la Romanée-Conti es una finca en Borgoña (Francia), que produce vino blanco y tinto, El concepto de caro o barato depende de las posibilidades de cada bolsillo, pero este borgoña francés vale más que cualquier otro en la tierra, desde hace varios años.

Vamos a empezar con su historia: La historia, evidentemente, tiene mucho peso en esto. Y si bien la primera mención de La Romanée-Conti data de 1651, la historia del lugar se remonta al año 900. De ese pedacito de tierra, es evidente que no se pueden producir muchas botellas. Manteniendo rendimientos siempre bajos, raramente superan las 6000 botellas anuales. Sin olvidarnos de eventuales años de mal clima.

El Pinot Noir tiene una gran virtud, es el tinto más suave que se pueda lograr. Pero no por ello menos longevo.

Personalmente he tenido la oportunidad en los 70 y 80 de compartir unos sorbos de este vino que tenía en la carta de mi restaurante en Suiza. Un vino que te da sensaciones inexplicables, como las que muchos pueden apreciar en una obra de arte, o en una pieza musical o teatral.

Sin duda, una experiencia difícil de lograr para la mayoría. Pero saber que existe un vino así, permite soñar, imaginar y disfrutar aún más los vinos que tenemos a mano. Y sobre todo entender que los vinos valen, no cuestan.

Lichi Bright, Happy Orange Best Used Sparingly

recently searched our portfolio of Perla Lichi Design installations looking for shades I of orange. Comparing our photos to an orange color chart, it was obvious that we rarely use pure bright orange in the interiors we design! Instead, we tone it down or lighten it up to complement each décor.

The different shades, tints and hues of orange or any color for that matter, are selected to blend with, contrast or complement the other colors in the palette we are working with. The boldest stroke of orange that we used in our work was a splash of orange in a modern painting that we hung in a warm contemporary den, where the other furnish-

ings were deep red and blue accessories over beige upholstery.

The same home had a lovely rust mosaic entryway and a rust powder room! This range of deeper, darker oranges like russet or ombre transitions are much safer to incorporate in any room.

When you have apricots, mangos, cantalopes, nectarines, papayas peaches, tangerines, buttered squash, carrots, pumpkins, sweet potatoes, orange peppers … and of course the orange is

Recientemente busqué en nuestro portafolio de instalaciones tonos de naranja. Compare nuestras fotos con una tabla de colores naranja. ¡Obviamente rara vez usamos tonos de naranja brillante en los interiores que diseñamos! Los atenuamos o aligeramos para complementar cada decoración.

Los diferentes tonos, tintes y tonalidades de naranja o cualquier sea el caso, se seleccionan para mezclar, contrastar o complementar los otros colores de la paleta con la cual estemos trabajando. El trazo más fuerte de naranja que utilizamos en nuestro diseño fue un toque de naranja que había en la pintura moderna que colgamos en la acogedora

Cuando tienes albaricoques, mangos, melones, nectarinas, papayas, melocotones, mandarinas, calabaza de mantequilla, zanahorias, calabazas, pimientos naranjas ... y, por supuesto, la naranja es en sí misma, tal vez sea la naturaleza la que habla. Se cree que la coloración anaranjada puede estimular el hambre. Donde es mejor usar los tonos naranja más brillantes seria para mejorar el apetito en cocinas y restaurantes.

Y hablando de la naturaleza, ¿por qué no introducir el color naranja en los interiores mediante el uso de flores de este color, hojas de otoño y otros elementos de este color natural de la naturaleza. Guadalupe Island, territory of the white shark

W hen we hear the word shark, we feel fear, we imagine this beautiful

animal as an evil being that is waiting for some human to touch its domain to pounce on us and tear us apart with its powerful jaws, full of sharp teeth, much of this feeling is it owes to the great cinematographic productions like Jaws. I also grew up with this fear and for a long time when I dived I expected the sharks to make their appearance, but it was not like that, but on the contrary, when I could observe some of these marine beings they were curious and timid, little by little my Feelings of fear became admiration and respect for these beings that have inhabited the ocean floor for more than 300 million years.

In the last years of my career as an underwater photographer I have traveled several places in the world in search of the famous sharks, which are increasingly scarce, because their indiscriminate fishing (they catch more than 100 million sharks a year) is causing disappear quickly from the ocean floor. Shark lovers have to travel farther and farther to observe in their natural environment some of the 350 species of sharks that exist on the planet.

C uando escuchamos la palabra tiburón, sentimos miedo, nos imaginamos a

este bello animal como un ser maléfico que está esperando a que algún humano toque sus dominios para abalanzarse sobre nosotros y despedazarnos con sus poderosas mandíbulas, llena de afilados dientes, mucho de este sentimiento se debe a las grandes producciones cinematográficas como Tiburón.

Yo también crecí con este miedo y durante mucho tiempo cuando me sumergía esperaba que hicieran su aparición los tiburones, pero no fue así, sino todo lo contrario, cuando podía observar a unos de estos seres marinos se mostraban curiosos y tímidos, poco a poco mis sentimientos de temor se fue convirtiendo en admiración y respeto para estos seres que han habitado los fondos oceánicos por más de 300 millones de años.

En los últimos años de mi carrera como fotógrafo submarino he recorrido varios lugares del mundo en busca de los famosos tiburones, los cuales son cada vez más escasos, pues su pesca indiscriminada (se pescan más de 100 millones de tiburones al año) está haciendo que desaparezcan rápidamente de los fondos oceánicos. Los amantes de los tiburones tenemos que viajar cada vez más lejos para poder observar en su ambiente natural a algunas de las 350 especies de tiburones que existen en el planeta.

Guadalupe Island is located in the huge Pacific Ocean and politically belongs to the border state of Baja California. Guadalupe Island is the last frontier of Mexico at its most western and northern end. Its volcanic origin and its distance from the continent give it a unique

My thoughts were cut by the cries of Jaws, Jaws, that our captain, Mike Carcharodon, was doing when I looked over the deck and discovered the huge shadow of my first white shark. The dining room is empty and stress takes over all the passengers, who hurriedly try to put on our diving suits very thick because the water is cold and we will be in the cages for a long time without moving, waiting for the appearance of the man of the seas.

El tiburón blanco es quizá el más nombrado de todos, pues es, el protagonista de muchas películas y documentales, hasta hace poco tiempo se creía que solo lo podíamos observar el los lejanos países como Sud África y Australia. Grande fue mi sorpresa cuando me entere de que aquí en nuestro México existe una pequeña isla llamada Guadalupe en donde los tiburones blancos se han paseado durante mucho tiempo, y ahora hacia allá nos dirigimos.

Llenos de optimismo, abordamos nuestra nave, que zarpó de la ciudad y puerto de Ensenada para dirigirnos a la isla de Guadalupe. Navegamos por casi 22 horas, por un Océano Pacifico en calma, para recorrer los 240 kilómetros que nos separan de la costa, hasta llegar a nuestro destino. Tiempo que aprovechamos para hacer nuevos amigos como José Luis Pérez Rocha y Thomas Fernández, además de escuchar con atención las pláticas que nos ofreció la experta en tiburones Pilar Blanco. La isla Guadalupe se encuentra ubicada en el enorme Océano Pacifico y pertenece políticamente al estado fronterizo de Baja California. La isla Guadalupe es

la última frontera de México en su extremo más occidental y septentrional. Su origen volcánico y su lejanía del continente le confieren una biodiversidad única que junto con su topografía abrupta y agreste despierta el asombro de cuantos la visitamos.

Llegamos a la isla en la tarde noche y enseguida, la tripulación del barco depositó las jaulas en el agua y se dedicaron a preparar la carnada que consiste en atún, sangre y algún tipo de aceite que al mezclarlo y arrojarlo al agua atraen irremediablemente al gran tiburón blanco. Me encontraba en cubierta observando el amanecer que llego con sigilo y engañosa rapidez, pintando las nubes que pendían sobre el mar, de un sutil color rosado. En cuestión de segundos la isla quedo totalmente iluminada mostrando sus imponentes acantilados y a las familias de lobos de Guadalupe así como a los enormes elefantes marinos. Mis pensamientos se vieron cortados por los gritos de Tiburón, Tiburón, que realizaba nuestro capitán, Mike Carcharodon, al asomarme por cubierta pude descubrir la enorme sombra de mi primer tiburón blanco. El comedor quedo vacío y el estrés se apodera de todos los

Comparto la jaula con mi hijo Rodrigo y con Alfredo, las condiciones son inmejorables, el agua no esta tan fría y la visibilidad es espectacular, no pasa mucho tiempo para que de repente y con extrema suavidad y con gran sigilo, sabiendo que es máximo depredador de los mares, hace su aparición el tiburón más grande que he visto jamás, es un macho de casi 4 metros de largo y quizá unos 500 kilogramos de peso. La adrenalina en la jaula es alta y no podemos quitar la mirada de él, lleno de emoción trato de capturar los momentos en vídeo, pero los barrotes están demasiado cerrados y mi cámara no puede salir, así que no tengo más remedio de seguir disfrutando de esta criatura maravillosa.

En la revista de Pronatura me encontré un artículo de Mauricio Hoyos, en el cual explica que el tiburón blanco surgió hace 11 millones de años. Su forma hidrodinámica, ojos prominentes, grandes aberturas branquiales, aletas pectorales largas y cola poderosa, le han permitido nadar, alimentares y reproducirse en la mayoría de los mares y océanos del mundo, ya sea en, fondos rocosos, arenosos o arrecifales.

Su nombre científico es Carcharodon carcharias que proviene de griego, karcharos ( punto afilado ), odus ( diente ) y carcharias ( punto aserrado ), se refiere a sus dientes grandes y triangulares, necesarios para desgarrar a sus presas preferidas, los mamíferos marinos.

Una vez más me encuentro en la jaula y me repito una y otra vez, que debo estar atento, no puedo perdérmelo, las ganas de verlo superan el frío y el cansancio. El viaje

That is why the work of caring for this and other species carried out by people like Rebeca Kobelkowsky, Nadia Citlali Olivares, María del Pilar Blanco, Alejandra Lazo de la Vega, deserves all our respect.

ha sido largo y muy esperado. La tensión es alta pues quiero lograr buena toma. De repente y saliendo del fondo a unos 10 metros de distancia en el azul del mar se dibuja la silueta inconfundible de tiburón. Como si existiera una comunicación entre las otras 3 jaulas, todos volteamos al mismo punto, también lo han visto y lo persiguen con la mirada, ruego porque Rodrigo que están en otras jaulas logren buenas fotos. Se mueve despacio, avanza con fluidez, pero con amplios y muy lentos movimientos. Es elegante, majestuoso, robusto y también muy grande. Parece estar observándonos mientras que describe grandes círculos alrededor de las carnadas. Desde el barco intentan atraerlo con más carnada que es lanzada al mar en repetidas ocasiones, además de la mezcla de sangre y viseras de pescado. Cuando el tiburón se lanza con su enorme peso sobre la carnada es cuestión de unos segundos para que la desaparezca si dejar ni rastro de ella.

Cuando esta magnífica bestia desaparece en el azul, todo vuelve a la normalidad. Debe confesar que mis compañeros y yo nunca sentimos miedo, pero si una gran emoción, que junto con admiración y respeto le debemos al gran tiburón blanco.

Al salir de las jaulas, todo son sonrisas, brillo en los ojos, gritos y alegrías. La emoción contenida ya puede aflorar. Este primer encuentro con la mal llamada muerte blanca dejara en nosotros un recuerdo que perdurara por mucho tiempo. Hemos compartido unos segundos con un mito viviente. El tiburón blanco es una joya de los mares, un auténtico sobreviviente de la prehistoria, que a pesar de encontrarse en lo más alto de la cadena alimenticia y de no contar con enemigos naturales, es considerado, en la actualidad, una especie amenazada. Es por eso que la labor de cuidado de esta y otras especies que realiza gentes como Rebeca Kobelkowsky, Nadia Citlali Olivares, María del Pilar Blanco, Alejandra Lazo de la Vega, merece todos nuestros respetos.

W ith a leisurely walk you can travel tens of kilometers in a single day. It is not

easy to find food in the vastness of the jungle. In dry season, water is also scarce.

La convivencia con el jaguar nos beneficia. Por fortuna tenemos la inteligencia para diseñar carreteras que faciliten el paso del jaguar y de sus presas sin ser arrolladas. Somos animales racionales capaces de crear sistemas de ganadería intensiva que reduzcan el riesgo de que las vacas sirvan de alimento al jaguar vacas. Se detienen en un charco a beber agua fresca. Los pequeños felinos corretean tras una mariposa. La madre gira orgullosa su cabeza aún con rastros de sangre del reciente alimento. Su mirada se cruza con la nuestra. Serena, emite un leve gruñido y, con una agilidad casi sobrenatural, brinca en medio de la vegetación. Los tres desparecen casi cual fantasmas dejando un rastro de magia, de respeto, de luz, de vida y de muerte que nos marca para siempre.

A “verbena” is a popular party with dance that is celebrated

at night (usually outdoors) for a holiday.

The etymological origin comes from the Latin verbena name that was given to a herbaceous plant that since antiquity was used for its healing properties and in rituals and offerings for the deities.

From the 4th century the decadence of the Roman Empire caused the Catholic Church to take control of most of the “pagan celebrations” by annulling them or converting them into religious festivals including “the summer solstice” that moved it to the Feast of Saint Juan.

This party began with a nocturnal ritual which extended until dawn with the plant of the verbena that among other things was used for purification and to attract love. And it was from the nineteenth century when this plant was related to all those events held from dusk to dawn; happening to be known these popular festivals as verbenas.

Esta fiesta iniciaba con un ritual nocturno el cuál se extendía hasta el amanecer con la planta de la verbena que entre otras cosas era utilizada para purificación y para atraer al amor. Y fue a partir del siglo XIX cuando se relacionó esta planta con todos aquellos actos celebrados desde el anochecer hasta despuntar el alba; pasando a ser conocidas estas fiestas populares como verbenas.

En la actualidad Bodegas de Santo Tomás siguiendo con la tradición con la población ensenadense, organiza una verbena popular en la calle Mírame entre 6 y 7, el único evento familiar, popular y gratuito de las fiestas de la vendimia.
