Dear Friend,

What is mental health? Is it a societal norm that we aim to achieve? Is it a state of mind, fueled by a continual search for nirvana and a curiosity about life? So many questions, but our writers attempt to answer these questions about mental health this month. One straightforward definition of mental health is simply the absence of a mental disorder. Still, even those of us who aren’t battling a specific disorder face the struggles of life and unexpected complications like death or divorce that can bring sadness with them. So I believe mental health encompasses so much more than just dealing with a disorder. I believe it’s consciously facing life and learning to experience joy, find balance and love fiercely throughout these struggles and beyond. The World Health Organization defines mental health as, "a state of well-being in which the individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to his or her community". I believe mental health is at the heart of what this publication encompasses: conscious living. It’s being brave enough to face our personal demons, learn and grow through them, and not only “cope” with life, but somehow through the process of introspection and a willingness to be vulnerable, come out the other side of darkness and THRIVE.

Wisdom Within—by Suzette Scholtes Yoga Lifts Mental Health

T

he great living yoga master B.K.S. Iyengar says the practice of yoga is to acquire calmness in the mind. Bring it on! He writes, “Our mental health needs both intellectual as well as emotional stability.” The Buddha says we think our problems are paramount and we blind ourselves to the light of our souls. “We all have many problems, but the biggest problem is WE DO NOT WANT PROBLEMS.” The author contends that anxiety, worry, obsessing, and blame are narcissistic entitlement. Narcissism means we become preoccupied with issues of inadequacy, and/ or prestige and vanity. First formulated in 1968, says Wicca, it was historically called egocentrism. This summer we immersed in a yoga workshop taught by Iyengar’s student, Paula Self, a gifted, ego-less, talented teacher. The whole weekend was vibrant with the yoga of love, sharing, intimacy, discipline, and caring. “I’m so sorry!” I hear her say as I see her in the bath scrubbing a stain from the sheet when her cycle started in the night. I take it from her hands. “Not a problem,” I say. “I’m an expert at any kind of stain.” I soak it in cold water with detergent and it comes clean. Later we make the bed together and I share one of my favorite quotes, “Don’t sweat the small stuff. Trust this is small stuff.” She traveled here from Buenos Aries to Denver and next day flew to KC. With jet lag the first night, she went to her room about 9 pm to sleep. Her back was sore from carrying her toddler. In the classroom the next day, she was electric, taking us through pose after pose with enthusiasm and smiles helping us absorb new knowledge from India. We loved it. She never complained. She would come home between sessions and ease her back spasm with oils and a hot bath. She has really strong mental health. She says it comes from her daily yoga practice. Here is what the American Mental Health writes on good mental health: 1. Feel good about yourself!

2. Manage emotions, such as fear, anger, love, jealousy, guilt, or anxiety and find peace. 3. Appreciate and foster rewarding perEVOLVING… A GUIDE FOR CONSCIOUS LIVING

sonal relationships. other people and do not judge them! 5. Laugh at yourself when messing up.

4. Love

6. Respect

others for being different than you. 7. Accept life's disappointments.

8. Find solutions and handle problems when they arise. 9. Make your own decisions. 10.Shape your daily environment whenever possible and adjust when necessary. As well, folks like Paula avoid negative mood states created by depression and anxiety by maintaining a strong support network of loved ones whom they can depend on for encouragement. They tend to learn about good nutrition and exercise often for 30 minutes or more. They spend time with upbeat, positive people interested in their welfare. They seek out community who share common interest. For mental health, Iyengar suggests, find the yoga that gives you two branches. One moves toward the brain and one to the heart. When one is depressed the upward flow of energy facing the brain is retarded. The retarded energy makes one to brood and it sinks the heart. At the yoga school, we understand this and teach the remedy. Some yoga poses develop strong bodies to help us endure life’s challenges whereas others help the “interior’ mind. It requires safe inverted poses such as half waterfall and other appropriate and safe inversions. They provide emotional stability. Try it. You will love your mental health. Suzette Scholtes has won awards for her writing and community service including one from Writers Digest for non-fiction. Teaching yoga and writing are her passions. At The Yoga School, she shares the 8,000 year old yoga tradition of practicing health and happiness, whether 18 or 80. Here, be met with a smile and learn to love your life. ou are in front of the TV surfing the channels or you are driving down the road switching from one radio station to another. The radio or TV tower is broadcasting many different channels but your choice determines which one you hear or see. The body-mind functions in a similar fashion. Flowing from one kind of activity to another can change the channel your mind-body is tuned to at that moment. When you shift from a focused task to the daydream state, you tune in to the frequency that can more readily facilitate change. In this moment you become more aware of the inner and outer surroundings. You are tuned in to the whole brainbody self. At this station you can make changes in the thoughts, feelings and images that may be interfering with your physical, mental or spiritual health. If you suffer from lack of confidence, depression, anxiety, poor self-image or destructive, critical self-talk, then this is the time to be Aware of what is happening, take deep Breaths and Connect with this body-mind channel. Now is the time to substitute an encouraging thought or image for a critical one, a positive thought or image for a catastrophic one, a peaceful thought for an angry one. Now this does not mean you need to deny or ignore your feelings. You can acknowledge your anger, sadness, fear or other feelings, taking whatever time you need, and then move to the reframing of the thought, feeling or image. There are times when you don’t believe that you can change this thought, feeling or image. For those times I suggest this powerful phrase. "If I could think positively about myself; imagine myself in a positive way…I wonder what it would look like, feel or sound like.” I often say to others or myself when they are stuck in this way, “I know you can’t think of anything positive…but if you could, I wonder how it would look, feel or sound like to you?” Almost without fail, this intervention works. I encourage you to explore the book, Message From Water by Masaru Emoto, seen on the website, wellnessgoods.com. es that occur when the water is exposed to different conditions. The water was exposed to spoken and written words, music, water placed on pictures and images and thoughts sent to the water. Polluted water, looking misshapen and ugly, was changed into a healthy looking water molecule with thoughts of love and appreciation. His book has many more pictures of water molecules exposed to different human vibrational energies. When I show the pictures to people, many experience a deep emotional shift as they realize the power of their thoughts, images, words and actions. It is sometimes easy to forget that we possess the power to change our body-mind by changing our thoughts and images. These A,B,C’s can assist you tuning in to healthy channels: Awake/Alert/Aware: What is the problem…the change needed? Breathe: Take deep breaths, “I am physically calm and mentally alert.” Connect: Use the creative power of the whole brain-body; connect with resources. Decide/Direct: I can choose to direct my energy. Energy: I can direct my energy into positive, constructive thoughts, images, words and actions. Form/Focus: I can choose a form/ structure for this directed energy and practice! Practice your ABC’s and create new positive neural pathways with your thoughts and images. You might just find yourself changing those negative brainwaves into positive ones. Tune in to the positive thought and image of your choice! Holistic Health—by Nancy Russell, M.D. Eat Right 4 Your Blood Type

D

r. Peter J. D’Adamo is a naturopathic doctor and author of the book, Eat Right 4 Your Blood Type. The subtitle of this book is The Individualized Diet Solution to Staying Healthy, Living Longer & Achieving Your Ideal Weight. As Dr. D’Adamo says in his book, “…the secret to healthy, vigorous, and disease-free living might be as simple as knowing your blood type.” Your blood is one of four types: Type O, A, B, or AB. Your blood type is a genetic fingerprint that identifies you as surely as your DNA. Your blood type can guide you in how to live more healthfully. The significance of blood type can be found in human evolution: Type O is the oldest, hunter-gatherers; Type A is next, cultivator-agrarians; Type B evolved as people became more nomadic; and most recent an intermingling of types A and B, the arrival of Type AB. Each blood type has certain characteristics, thrives on different nutrition, and needs their own exercise regimens and ways to deal with stress. With each blood type, food recommendations are in three categories. The first category is beneficial foods, which act like medicine; the second is neutral foods and the third category is foods to avoid. Avoid foods can cause inflammation in the body and lead to chronic disease and stress. Blood type O, the oldest blood type can eat animal protein as they produce more hydrochloric acid to digest it. Type O people tend to be physically strong, leaders, self

reliant and goal oriented. Intense physical exercise such as running, aerobics and contact sports are helpful to destress the type O person. Foods to avoid are: wheat, dairy products, corn, navy beans, lentils, and cabbage. Most other vegetables and fruits are beneficial, especially kelp, kale, spinach and broccoli. More complete lists of all foods are available in book or internet format. Blood type A is the blood type that evolved when people started settling down in communities from 25,000 to 15,000 BC. Type A’s tend to be cooperative, sensitive, orderly and settled. They have little need for animal food and find that emphasizing vegetables is beneficial. To reduce stress, yoga or gentle exercises with frequent breaks help to stay relaxed and focused. Type A’s do well with soy foods and need vegetables, with the exception of the night shade family which includes tomatoes, potatoes, peppers and eggplant. To lose weight and foods to avoid include: red meat, dairy, wheat, kidney beans and lima beans. Blood Type B developed between 10,000 and 15,000 BC in response to climate changes as people began to be nomads. Type B is the most balanced blood type and the personality is flexible, creative and engineering. Type B has a strong immune system and is versatile. Beneficial foods are lamb, salmon, milk, grains, fruits and vegetables. Moderate physical exercise with a mental component such as hiking, cycling, tennis and swimming are ideal for this blood type. To achieve weight loss, Type B’s need to avoid chicken, lobster, wheat, corn, lentils, peanuts and sesame

seeds. Blood Type AB is the rarest blood type and was found in 2500 BC and became more common 1,000 years ago. The AB blood type has a mysterious personality, is highly sensitive and can be an enigma. Exercise varies from calming, centering exercises such as yoga or Tai Chi combined with moderate physical exercise. Beneficial foods include: turkey, seafood, soy, greens and kelp. To lose weight, foods to avoid are red meat, kidney beans, lima beans, seeds, corn and buckwheat. Peter J. erhaps you’ve seen photos from your friends or in this magazine of orbs. Some are quite simple, appearing like a thousand light bulbs suspended in the air. Others are quite complex, with intricate designs and shapes. So what are “orbs?” You’ll be intrigued by the answers I received in my meditations. Orbs are spirits in many different forms. They are energy with consciousness. Their energy is just above the human eye spectrum, which is why they normally can only be seen in photographs. Few humans have the ability to see them with their naked eyes. They cannot be touched — your hand would go right through them. Let’s begin with the more complex orbs. These are guides and more advanced souls. They can be round with intricate designs, which denote how advanced the soul fragment is. They can change shape to hexagonal, with one flat side, or even a smiley face to show off for the camera. They can be the size of a soft ball or the size of a basketball. They can be different colors to denote how many lives on earth they’ve lived. They appear flat when photographed, but are actually balls of energy. They can be guides for humans, and the same orbs are often seen in photos taken of the same person. Others are simply photographed as they move from one location to another, interacting with each other, should they wish. And to answer an obvious question, these orbs are not souls transitioning after death, although a fragment of the soul fragment may remain and become one of your guides for learning purposes. Only one percent of the orbs are guides. Then what are the other 99 percent of the orbs we see in photographs? Most are the soul fragments of dogs, cats, birds, insects, and other animals, which have just finished an earth life and are being guided through energy tubes by human soul orbs. The human soul fragment orbs gain knowledge through doing this service. The dog and cat orbs, as an example, are shepherded to what are termed, “staging areas,” where their group souls assign them to their next earth mother. They spend little time in spirit form before their next life. Keep this in mind when your beloved cat or dog or other pet dies, you can say, “I request a Most Benevolent Outcome for my (beloved pet’s name) to return to us,

EVOLVING… A GUIDE FOR CONSCIOUS LIVING

July 2013

thank you!” Most of the time you’ll be granted your wish through the assistance of your own guardian angel. There are separate staging areas for dogs, for cats, birds, insects, etc., and these staging areas are set up both energetically and geographically. As an example, there could be several staging areas for dogs in a densely populated region such as the East Coast, but few in a lightly populated region such as Montana. These staging areas are where literally thousands of orbs can be seen in photos. In the future I’m told, someone will take the photos of the complex orbs and will blow up the photos and start comparing what is the same and what are the differences between orbs. They will then begin to unlock the secrets of the orbs. I could also see people mapping these staging areas and other people charging a small fee for people to come onto their property and spend the evening photographing thousands of orbs as they move through their area. If you wish to experiment with this yourself, gather two or three friends together one evening and say out loud, “I request a Most Benevolent Outcome for our guides to show themselves in these photographs, thank you!” Choose a dark area, which will provide a good contrast to the orb images and then take some photos. Who knows, you might be in the middle of a staging area, but at the very least you may view your guides. Have fun!

Books The Healing Paradox: A Revolutionary Approach to Treating and Curing Physical and Mental Illness by Steven Goldsmith, MD

H

ave we been attempting to treat illness in a manner that guarantees failure? And could the causes of our ills actually be their cures? “It’s not as unusual as it sounds,” Steven Goldsmith, MD, says. “Allergy shots, immunizations and radiation treatments are among the many instances in which small amounts of harmful substances can heal us.” Dr. Goldsmith’s revolutionary new book, The Healing Paradox: A Revolutionary Approach to Treating and Curing Physical and Mental Illness (North Atlantic Books and distributed by Random House), examines a world where the outcomes of medical and psychotherapeutic treatments defy common sense. A graduate of Columbia College of Physicians & Surgeons, he has held faculty and staff positions at the Boston University, Tufts University and New York University Schools of Medicine. In his forty years of practice, he has straddled the worlds of conventional and alternative medicine in order to seek natural solutions to medical and psychiatric problems. The Healing Paradox shows us why we are built to defeat the treatments our physicians recommend. It also shows us how we can apply the principles of psychology – actually, reverse psychology – to effectively treat all illness. Abundant data demonstrate these assertions to be nature’s laws. Seeking answers to these and other questions, this book will appeal to those readers who seek cutting edge ideas and new strategies for improved health. No work has ever before examined the central paradox of healing so comprehensively across medical and psychotherapeutic disciplines, fortifying its claims with numerous case examples, research and epidemiological findings, the history of medicine and the basic sciences, and the author’s personal experience with chronic illness. Provocative, endlessly surprising, and educational, The Healing Paradox reveals:

Why an increasing proportion of our population has become chronically ill despite alleged advances in medicine

Why prescription drugs inevitably fail and why conventional medicine (including psychiatry) cannot prevent or cure most illness

Why the development of more effective health care requires a change in our ideas, not in our technology or our drugs

Why we are hard-wired to defeat conventional medical and psychotherapeutic treatment

• Why treatment can cure us only when it allows us to heal ourselves •

Why treatment that addresses only a part of a person is likely to fail

Why symptoms, resistance to treatment, and side effects of drugs are all signs of strength, and how healers can utilize this information to cure people

Why the conventional medical diagnosis has no basis in reality

Why encouraging and even exaggerating psychiatric symptoms and marital problems can cure them

Why countless substances and practices that seem bad for us can actually cure us

Join Evolving Magazine!

• How we can use these principles within our homes to solve certain health problems

“Doctors and patients must challenge what seems to be common sense and logic,” adds Dr. Goldsmith, “for nature’s truths are under no obligation to seem logical to human beings.”

In it, Dr. Davis reveals how today’s wheat is nothing like what my grandparents ate. It’s been bio-engineered to the specifications of industrial farming operations and the processed food industry. These new breeds, like their genetically modified cousins, have not been tested in humans. Today’s wheat, even whole grain wheat, is high in rapidly absorbed carbohydrates, more than table sugar or a candy bar. This causes a spike in our blood sugar, a sudden drop, then hunger and cravings. If you eat more wheat the cycle continues, every two hours. Davis asserts people who consume wheat eat 400 more calories per day than those who do not, and that the need for between meal snacks will disappear and our waistline will reappear if we eliminate wheat from our diets. Our bodies convert excess carbohydrates to fat. But, wheat-belly fat is no ordinary fat. It’s visceral fat, which means it accumulates around our organs. It acts like a gland, secreting hormones that promote inflammation. Davis has found many inflammatory diseases, including diabetes, coronary artery disease and high blood pressure, improve or resolve when wheat and it’s relatives are removed from the diet. The gluten in today’s wheat causes the body to make morphinelike compounds that make us feel good, then crash, setting up another cycle of craving. This phenomenon is well known in the autism community. When gluten containing grains are removed, autistic symptoms significantly improve in over 50 percent of the children. Thus, there is no such thing as a little bit of wheat for many people.

Could the food pyramid, with its recommendation of 6 – 11 servings of “healthy whole grains” per day, be responsible for the epidemic of obesity, diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure? Absolutely, says Dr. Davis. So should everyone eat gluten free? It may be worth a try especially in the following situations: • Any

inflammatory condition, including heart disease and high blood pressure. Excess weight, especially when the weight concentrates in the belly. High or low blood sugar and diabetes. Skin problems such as rashes, acne, eczema and psoriasis. Mood issues. Gut problems such as gas, bloating, irritable bowel syndrome, gastritis and acid reflux. Any autoimmune condition. Pain. Memory loss and neurologic issues. Low energy.

For years, I have recommended diversifying our diets with nongluten containing grains such as quinoa, rice, corn, amaranth and buckwheat, which is not related to wheat. In certain cases, I recommend avoiding grains all together. Humans have no physiologic need for grains and many people find their health improves significantly with this one step. ou've probably s e e n t h e s e headlines or similar ones: 70 percent of Americans are on prescription drugs. And among these people, 14 percent have been on prescription drugs more than 10 years. We live in a society that is so fast-paced that we've come to accept that anxiety and stress are normal. We have been brainwashed to believe that there is a one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to anxiety, depression and other mental health diagnoses. Starting from a young age if your kid is too quiet, he must have autism; if he is too hyper, he must have ADD. There is so much labeling and medicating going on that we stunt our kids' natural growth process. Nowadays, It seems that everyone is either depressed or suffering from anxiety; and it's no wonder ― we don't give ourselves permission to feel much of anything, so of course we get depressed, anxious, and agitated. As a society, if we look at the food we are eating, the media

we are consuming, our lack of exercise, our limited spiritual practice and decreased connection to the people around us…who wouldn't feel depressed or anxious? Compounding the problem is the fact that, as a society, we are constantly looking for a quick fix. Popping a pill can seem easier than doing the hard work of looking inward. This can be painful, but it is where true change originates. For many people, lack of a spiritual practice is a big part of the problem. When you commit to having a spiritual practice, you learn to distinguish your ego from your higher Self, your higher consciousness. Once you do that, you realize that depression, anxiety, or mania are not who you truly are. These are ways of coping and being that you have adopted. We are so externally driven all the time that when we aren't plugged in to all those things outside ourselves, we think something is missing. We literally don't know what to do with ourselves. I know it happens to me. It is no surprise that I love to speak in front of people

– part of having bipolar disorder is getting charged up from being in the spotlight and feeding off other people's energy. When I am not doing that, I may feel a little low, but I don't see it as being depressed. I think that the feelings we sometimes mistake for depression are just our body, mind and spirit needing quiet time to renew ourselves. There is a natural path to healing and freedom, and it takes patience and commitment. Here are some steps that can make it possible: Have a strategy. Don't stop taking your medication without consulting your doctor. You also have to make sure you have a support team in place. In my case it was my parents, my sister, my best friend, my therapist, my psychiatrist and my husband. Have a spiritual practice. Whether it is meditation, yoga, prayer, or going for walks (I walk my dog five to six miles every other day), you have got to have something that is going to anchor you. That's because the medication you have been taking really has not anchored you at all; it has just numbed you.

am well aware about the lessons I have yet to learn. I have been able to interrupt my pattern of limiting beliefs and have a successful business, a deeper connection with myself and others, and live my life free from what society expects or tells me to be. I’m grateful and blessed for my journey. It's been a long road and along the way I have collected the lessons that were intended for me to learn, grow, and teach. It's my privilege to share them here at Evolving Magazine.

It takes time, planning and effort to find freedom from mental anguish and medication. Have an intimate relationship with yourself. When you allow someone to tell you, “You have depression, you need to be on medication,” you have stopped learning and stopped growing, because you have allowed someone to define who you are. Know yourself instead of having someone else define who you are. You have to be willing to go to places in your soul that you have been in denial about. Find a purpose bigger than yourself. My purpose 'saved' me. When I found a way to be of service, the attention was taken off me, and it let me turn

my 'wounds into wisdom,' as Oprah says. It has been more than 10 years since I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and going on a year now that I have lived free of medication. Do I ever feel down, like I'm in a funk? Absolutely. But I also know that doesn't have to mean that I am depressed, just that I am feeling down. It takes time, planning and effort to find freedom from mental anguish and medication. It takes practice every day, but it is possible if you believe you can change and are willing to do the work. Today, I’m a teacher and a lifelong student. I know what I know and I

Spiritual Horoscope—by Aluna Michaels August 2013 Leo (July 23 – Aug. 22) Happy birthday Leo! This birth year you’re able to balance wants with needs. Make a list of your goals and wishes. Then meditate with the list. See if any seem to loose their importance or allure. Make definite steps for the ones that remain, and take action to manifest them – even if it is just visualizing your life with that fulfillment. By month’s end, you’ll take bigger steps, and have rewards in terms of work, fitness, home life or spiritual centering. Virgo (Aug. 23 – Sept. 22) Venus is still in your sign for two more weeks, helping you feel beautiful and appreciated. Hopefully you’ve learned to join in the chorus of your cheerleaders! If single, you can start a new relationship through mutual friends. You’ll both share ethics and meaningful goals. Reinvigorate a current partnership by sharing spiritual activities – yoga, meditation, even art exhibits or walks in nature. Forgive past mistakes in love, so you’re open to present love! Libra (Sept. 23 – Oct. 22) Venus moves into your sign midmonth, creating a deep sense of abundance and gratitude. Relationships will feel centered and steady – a blessing in a Libra’s world! If dating, don’t overlook “boring” people, since you’re addicted to troubled souls on roller-coasters of emotion. You’ll soon see the merits of a grounded partner! Also, bring spirituality to your workplace, even if it is with deep breathing at stressful times to remember your connection with the Universe. Scorpio (Oct. 23 – Nov. 21) Whether you believe it or not, you’re a gift in people’s lives!! You’re not conceited; you’re recognizing the spiritual strength that flows through you from the Universe and into others. Meditate and get used to trusting this flow of energy. You’re important to others and they love you! Next, meditate on receiving energy back – like appreciation or grati-

tude. But also see loving support coming from others, so you can reach out when you need it -- you don’t always have to be the strong one!

ents! It’s a great time to pay off old debts – and even forgive old heartbreaks in love – so you can open to even more emotional and financial abundance!

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 – Dec. 21)

Pisces (Feb. 19 – March 20)

Meditate to be better able to stay present with loved ones. Intimacy often makes you feel anxious, like you want to make jokes, get distracted, or even run away. By keeping with spiritual disciplines, you get more used to the sense of God or your soul being closer to you. Then you can feel less nervous about others being in your emotional space. Your individuality is enhanced by love, not hampered. Also, this month you might have unexpected financial gifts!

Relationships are in a great place! Don’t be shy -- let your partner know how grateful you are for him/ her. Also meditate on your own wonderful qualities so you open to the love being showered upon you! Spiritually, stick with your meditation and inner work – it’s easy to let up when things are smooth. But stay alert to ways you deflect or minimize joy – Defeat those parts of yourself! Aries (March 21 – April 19)

Work on blending relationships with your spirituality. Meditate with your partner. Reach out to more people in your yoga class and make friends. Have a trusted pal help you better walk your talk when it comes to living your beliefs (for example – trusting your affirmations will manifest). You might even discover a coworker who is into your style of thinking!

You can be starting a ideal relationship that is a true blessing! If single, meditate and visualize the type of person who fits your spiritual standards. If partnered, meditate on forgiving their shortcomings so you can see the amazing qualities you’ve overlooked. Talk about your spiritual path to foster more intimacy. Start a meditation, yoga or prayer time together to blend as souls and not just personalities – that helps avoid many “issues”!

Aquarius (Jan. 20 – Feb. 18)

Taurus (April 20 – May 20)

You’ll reach a new level of success with work! Let your authentic self shine through, whatever the nature of your career. You’ll get more done with less effort. You’ll seem to have more money even if you don’t have a pay increase. You deserve this respect, so don’t downplay your tal-

Like Aries friends you could start a relationship with a spiritual bond, or be infusing a current partnership with your metaphysics. But as Taurus, it’s easy to get in a rut and view people as how they’ve always been. Meditate on how your partner is changing and growing – and how

you are too! You both have more capacity for bonding and fulfilling each other’s needs and dreams. If single, let the past disappointments be in the past. Believe you can draw a partner in a higher consciousness. You’re evolving and it reflects in your life! Gemini (May 21 – June 20) You’ll have prosperous changes at work! There’s a way to blend spirituality into your job – or have things come together in your career that help you feel more fulfilled, even if it’s not traditionally “spiritual”. Practice integrating joy into all you do. It’s easy as a Gemini to have black and white thinking. Challenge yourself to see that all experiences and people are always for your higher good. Cancer (June 21 – July 22) Many of your dreams are coming true! To stay open to even more blessings, meditate on the happiness of all people in your life – especially the ones you don’t like, or have caused you problems in the past. This practice will clear your heart of old wounds. You’ll also feel more worthy of joy. The more joy you have, the brighter your light that then blesses others. Instead of fixing or feeling sorry for people, be the example of bliss! Aluna Michaels is a secondgeneration astrologer and Soul Evolutionist practitioner.
