Publisher’s Letter...

Contents Dear Friend, I waited two days for a gift—not a romantic present from a secret lover, but a gift from the Universe. I knew it was coming, I just didn't know what or when. A few days before I had received a review copy of Lawrence, Kansas, New York Times #1 Bestselling author, Pam Grout's book, E-Squared: Nine do-it-yourself energy experiments that prove your thoughts create your reality. PROVE!! Now that definitely had my attention. The first experiment asked me to give a request to the Universe, or as Pam calls it, the field of infinite potentiality (FP), for proof. A sign, a gift, that would show up within 48

hours. I set my intention for the gift and went on with my day. I tried to be aware of gifts coming in. All day, I noticed wonderful signs.... a new writing assignment, a large ad placed in the magazine, a movie I watched that truly spoke to me, and numerous other joyous gifts throughout the day. But these weren't what I was waiting for. I wanted something unexpected that held deep meaning for me personally. Two days later, eating lunch, I was reading Paranormal: My Life in Pursuit of the Afterlife by Raymond Moody. He tells a story about meeting George Ritchie and hearing his story about dying and having his life flash before his eyes. Ritchie said, "The Being began to ask the question: 'What have you done with your life?' Well, I'm an Eagle Scout, I said. 'Yes, but that only glorified you.'” I set down the book and asked myself, "What have you done with your life?" And knew I had received my gift. I hope you enjoy this month’s issue on Quantum Mechanics and how energy works. There are a variety of articles on manifestation, energy, abundance, and sound healing, plus an article written by Pam Grout, “Thank and Grow Rich,” on page 10. It’s truly an abundant, energetic issue.

These two elements, transcendence and transformation, are what interests me most in near death experiences. In the research I have done and studied, I rarely meet a person who hasn’t been transformed by their NDE. These people become kinder, gentler versions of the person they were before their NDE. Sometimes this change is so complete that they are no longer recognizable. That was the case with Dr. Parti. His brush with death opened an entirely new world to him – an otherworld if you will – that replaced the materialistic world he had so carefully constructed. Dr. Rajiv Parti was literally transformed by the light. tep inside a sunny charcuterie in the East Bottoms and you’ll find a locally owned choice-cuts butcher shop. Aptly named The Local Pig, butcher shops, at least one with heart and soul, are hard to find, especially one off the beaten track. Owner, Alex Pope understands the dilemma for securing fresh cuts and is nurturing his shop carefully. “We believe in local farms, humanely raised meats and damn good eating.” There’s not an animal offered that’s raised without a pasture nor are any raised with antibiotics/hormones. In fact, early on when the shop opened, Pope made the rounds to select local suppliers just to inspect their operations. If they didn’t meet his criteria for free range they weren’t going to be on his go-to list. Inside the no-nonsense storefront, Pope and crew are doing what butchers do. Only they do it with attention to detail. You point to what you want from the meat cases where you can see what you’re getting. “The prep and handling of food shouldn’t be behind closed doors,” says Pope, a chef with stints at The American Restaurant and the R Bar. If there’s one selection from the array of pork, beef, lamb, and poultry it’s his sausage that in Pope’s words,

In addition to the cash and carry meats available daily, The Local Pig offers classes. Learn how to butcher nose to tail, cure bacon, create a fermented and smoked sausage, brine ham and make pate. Journey to Wholeness

Is the Political Personal?

W

BY JUDE LACLAIRE, PH.D.

ith a historic presidential election in sight, many of you may be suffering from campaign fatigue. Perhaps looking at this from a different perspective might be helpful. I ask the question, “Is the political personal?” Do political and social influences affect the mental health of individuals? Let’s take a look at the many ways that political decisions and social policies do affect our lives. Job losses and shifts in the economy have been the source of depression, anxiety, anger and loss of self-esteem. Natural disasters occurring here in the US and around the world have wreaked havoc on the environment and, Image licensed by Ingram Images subsequently on the people Image licensed by Ingram Images living in those devastated areas. Civil wars and terrorism, causing mass immigration, have left many persons displaced, homeless and without appropriate aid. Many are manifesting serious mental health and medical problems. Stress, fear and worry can cause depression, anxiety and short-term and long-term medical issues. Delivery of mental health services has been adversely affected by social policy. Beginning in the 60’s and the two decades following, most long-term treatment facilities for the mentally ill were closed. No safety net for the

chronically mentally ill was put in place. Now, few inpatient mental health treatment programs are available. The term of care is decided not by need but by insurance company policy. Services, even for those with health insurance, are hard to find. Community mental health centers, a wonderful grass roots movement of the 60’s & 70’s, were established to work with mental health education, prevention and treatment for anyone who needed it. Government grants and programs funded many of these. I was privileged to work at one of the first of these centers (1972-73). With less funding these centers have become more focused on the chronically mentally ill with less time for prevention, mental health education and working with mild to moderate mental health issues. As mental health professionals are being asked to have more ‘billable hours’ the treatment hour may be shorter, more patients are seen and less attention is given to each person. Many mental health professionals feel burned out and powerless. David Mechanic, in The Truth About Health Care says “…health care in America has evolved in ways that favor a myriad of economic, professional and political interests over those of patients.” He also notes that the US spends more per person on health care than any other country but the evidence shows that care is often poor and inappropriate. He says in an earlier report, “As compared

with other disease-oriented interest groups, the mentally ill, and particularly chronic patients are significantly disadvantaged in the political processes…” There are individual groups and organizations that have spearheaded efforts to work with persons with developmental disabilities, autism and severe mental disorders. These people are making a difference. You may be a caretaker for someone in your family. Many people are making their personal contributions to making things better. It would be so helpful if the political and social support were there for you and others who are working so hard to help others. Political decisions and social policy affect the daily life of each of us in so many ways. As you look at the campaign issues, think about how the policies/programs that are proposed will affect you, your children and your community for years to come. Dwight D. Eisenhower many years ago reminded us that “Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, signifies in the final sense a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.” Your vote has the power to support good political decisions and shape social policy. eing prepared and proactive can make a difference in health and well-being. September is national preparedness month for disasters and emergencies. To prepare, plan, stay informed, and be READY for disasters and emergencies, use www.ready.gov. to set up and implement an emergency supply list. This website explains how much water and non-perishable food you need, and lists other necessities like flashlights, whistles, dust mask, local maps, cash, and emergency reference material. A new book on this topic is, Surviving the Medical Meltdown by Lee Hieb, M.D. To proactively prepare for illnesses and minor injuries, keep natural remedies in your medicine cabinet. There are many items from which to choose, so here is a short list to consider. For injuries, especially bruising injuries, apply ice and elevate the area. In addition, topical homeopathic cream and tablets of T-relief pain formula will lessen the inflammation, help the bruising go away faster, and decrease pain. For burns, if they are closed and with minor blisters, I recommend cold running water and then apply either calendula cream or lavender essential oil. For minor bug bites or poison ivy, tea tree essential oil or lavender essential oil can be beneficial.

BY DR, NANCY RUSSELL To prepare for winter, Vitamin C in the form of Ester C or Bio- C can be used regularly at 750 to 1500mg per day and doubled if you get sick. Check your vitamin D level prior to winter and cloudy skies. A mid-range level of about 50 to 70 mg/ml can decrease your risk of colds and flus. You can safely take 2000 IU’s of vitamin D as an adult without kidney problems and some people require 5000 IU’s or more. However, Vitamin D can be toxic to the kidneys and, since it is a fat soluble vitamin, blood levels should be checked at least once a year. If you do become ill, here are action strategies. For colds or sinus infections, drinking plenty of water, minimizing sugar and dairy products, and using a sinus rinse with a Neti pot or Nasopure system to flush out mucous and allergens. The homeopathic nasal spray, Reboost Decongestant spray can loosen mucous and Zinc lozenges can improve symptoms and offer relief. Herbal remedies such as Echinacea, Goldenseal, Oil of oregano, or Olive Leaf extract can help with infection. Get plenty of rest and down time to get well faster. You should check with your medical provider before taking herbal remedies if you are on prescription medications or have chronic health problems. As a goal for optimal health, balance in your overall life is advantageous to prevent colds and flu and preventing or

reducing the effects of chronic diseases. As a holistic physician, I like to discuss the four essential elements for well-being: Your body, mind, emotions, and spirit. Start by assessing these four and determining where improvements can be made in your life. Body health relies on the fuel taken in and the activity level maintained on a regular basis. Mental health depends on life-long learning, mental exercises, and setting and meeting career goals. Emotional health relates to home environment, friend and family relationships, and whether there is happiness, joy, and hope in your life. Spiritual health comes from your attitude towards life, yourself, and your life’s purpose in addition to a relationship with God and Christ or other belief system and philosophy.

Revelations

Journey Into Sound Healing for the Body, Mind, and Spirit BY MARK ALLEN GOSSMAN

F

rom as far back as I can remember I knew that I would be moved by certain sounds. Whether it be the startling buzz of a passing hummingbird or the toe-tapping teachings of Disney’s Professor Ludwig Von Drake, my joy of being has centered around the sweet sense of sound. I also was acutely aware of the pain and despair of the cries of large cats pacing in their cages at the zoo. I knew that sound could sooth or slay the very spirit of life that I wanted to portray. After many years of dabbling in various forms of music, I was gifted with the opportunity to learn how sound can heal and strengthen the body, mind, and spirit. In the summer of 2008, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. After flirting with the idea of natural healing remedies I decided to take the traditional route and get radiation treatments. During treatments, I was encouraged by enlightened friends to start a drum circle. Here is where I discovered that drumming is actually a sound healing modality. Therapeutic rhythm techniques have been used for thousands of years to create and maintain physical, spiritual, and mental health. Through the process of entrainment, where everyone suddenly drops into a single rhythm, heart rate becomes regular and a general sense of well-being fills the individual;

this boosts the immune system and encourages a feeling of support and connection. It has been known to be effective with Alzheimer’s patients, trauma patients, autistic children and many people suffering from emotional disorders. Drumming can be an adjunct treatment for a wide range of physical disabilities and…cancer. While polishing my skills as a drum circle leader I was invited to accompany a group that was forming to take people into a state of bliss and well-being through a call and response singing practice known as Kirtan. Kirtan is an ancient method of connecting with Divine qualities as portrayed by Gods and Goddesses from devotional religions of India. It is a form of Bhakti yoga. Now I am connected to another form of sound healing, chanting. The healing qualities of chanting include inducing a relaxation response, lowering blood pressure, integrating brain waves and regulating respiration. Many believe that reciting mantras enable the tongue to stimulate the meridians inside the mouth and synchronizes the left and right hemispheres of the brain. Certain mantras can cause the release of melatonin hormones which help a person with sleep and relaxation.

“Sound therapy is a viable medium to address distress, enhance learning and create an atmosphere that is conducive for healing. ”

EVOLVING…IN KANSAS CITY

It is important to note that one does not have to be a virtuoso singer in order to benefit from chanting. It’s not only the sound that one makes but also the intention of the person making the sound that produces the beneficial effects. Thus in different disciplines, results from the same chant can have varied effects. As Jonathan Goldman puts it, “Vocalization + Visualization = Manifestation." Regardless of your faith, creed or culture it is important to remember to be careful with words because they do carry power. More recently I have been utilizing the profound healing effects of gongs and Tibetan bowls. Gongs have been utilized for over 5000 years. The unique capacity to produce all audible tones attests to their holistic effects on the human psyche. Most of these instruments are hand forged and carry a unique set of tones and harmonics. Because of the effects of differing heat, pressure, and conditions, even those which are massproduced will vary. A well-made gong accompanied by a skilled player can produce relaxing benefits similar to meditation, exercise and breathing— without physical or mental effort. Subjects are encouraged to lie down or sit in a comfortable position while being washed over with the sounds. High levels of prolonged theta brain waves similar to lucid dreaming can occur. People have reported never having felt this relaxed without falling asleep. From this perspective, the session can be very therapeutic.

8

October 2016

Depending on how the instruments are played and their sonic compatibility, subjects can achieve different effects in the emotional, mental, and physical body. It can rejuvenate the parasympathetic nervous system and regulate the sympathetic nervous system. These instruments have proven to be helpful in overcoming the damages of drug abuse and stress-related illnesses. In Bali, gongs are used to treat schizophrenia. For many the gong is like a star gate which brings in a vortex of energy facilitating a connection with the infinite higher self, expanding the mind and opening the heart. Sound therapy is a viable medium to address distress, enhance learning and create an atmosphere that is conducive to healing. It balances the brain and releases energetic blocks, allowing us to cleanse and detox at a cellular level. For me, it has proven to be an avenue for profound healing and an opening into vast realms of self-discovery. Mark Allen Gossman’s mission is to create connectivity in the world through sacred sound. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in science and math and has been a certified bio -feedback practitioner. Currently he leads drum circles, Jai Sprit Kirtan group, and offers sound immersion with the Gong Tribe. To learn more you can find "Mark Allen Gossman" on Facebook.

The Energy of Change

H

ave you noticed that when you go through great personal change, everything around you seems to be in chaos for a period of time? Ever wonder why? There are several energetic principles at work that can help us understand why our world—and especially our relationships—go through so much upheaval when we are in a process of transformation. First, it’s important to remember that everything in the world carries a unique energetic frequency. If you put anything under a large enough microscope, it’s just a particle vibrating at a rate of speed. So, too, you carry a distinctive frequency. When you change, your frequency changes. And this sets off a whole sequence of reactions in your personal ecosystem. Whatever is in your environment that is no longer in resonance with your new frequency is now in dissonance. And just like in music, dissonance is not sustainable. It builds tension, and everything in nature is always seeking a state of equilibrium. Be it your job, relationships, wardrobe, or daily routine, things that are no longer in harmony with your new self will begin to fall away as a new state of balance and harmony is sought. It is human nature to desire feeling safe and one of the ways we attempt to create this is to establish routines—do our best to make our world predictable. We

BY STEPHANIE RED FEATHER

drop into a comfort zone in relationships, and we begin putting each other in a box as a way to categorize and predict one another. Inside your box, people have a good idea of what you think, how you’ll respond, what you like and don’t like, your daily habits, what they can expect from you, and so on. But when you change, you leave the box. This disrupts their world. As a preservation reaction, which has nothing to do with whether or not they actually support the changes you are trying to make, they will do everything possible to put you back in your box. This behavior is a reflection of their own discomfort. And, no matter how conscious or evolved a person is, they will demonstrate this reaction to some degree. They want you back in your box (i.e. acting, speaking, and doing as you always have) so they can maintain the comfort and predictability they’re used to. The term cognitive dissonance lends clarification to this phenomenon. Cognitive dissonance is mental conflict that occurs when beliefs or assumptions are contradicted by new information. Introduced in the 1950’s by psychologist Leon Festinger, he and later researchers showed that when confronted with challenging new information, most people seek to preserve their current understanding of the world by rejecting, explaining away, or avoiding the new information or by convincing themselves that no conflict really exists.

This is why the people in your life— especially the ones closest to you or who have been in your sphere the longest—get enormously upset when you change. Your change disrupts their homeostasis and they want to restore order. As the book Who Moved My Cheese? says, “The more important cheese is to you, the more you want to hold onto it.” What’s more, it doesn’t matter where someone lands on the consciousness spectrum, we are all energetic beings and our nervous systems register and process hundreds of thousands of stimuli every day. When your vibration changes, make no mistake, it will register in the energy field of every person you are close to— whether they are aware of it or not. Often times people will exhibit unusual behaviors or amplified reactions to the changes they subconsciously perceive in you without realizing they are doing it—or understanding why. For example, a friend of mine knew her relationship with her husband was over. She did an energetic cord-cutting ceremony and, from hundreds of miles away, her husband who practically never called to check on her immediately called her. He was extremely concerned and uncharacteristically clingy. He felt the change. When we react from this place of “Go back to how it was; I felt safer and more comfortable there,” we almost always act from a regressed state. If you think about the people in your life with whom you

spend the most time, they probably have a go-to move when they are trying to manipulate you to get what they want. When you so “brazenly” choose to come into the relationship with an agenda of change, they will turn the volume of their go-to move up to 11. One of my clients had created a home climate of doing everything for everyone else, over care-taking, and putting herself last. When she made the decision to start caring for herself and asking her family to do more, she got met with, “You don’t care about me anymore,” and accusations of selfishness. Another client made the commitment to start saying no and establish clearer boundaries with his mother. Her go-to move? Guilt. She turned the guilt dial all the way up, regressing to the point of childish whining and passive-aggressive goading. Anything to get him to acquiesce. He held his ground and over time she finally backed off and adjusted to the new parameters of their relationship. This is not meant to scare you off from making change! The desire is for you to be equipped with the knowledge of what can happen in reality so if and when it does show up in your life, you will understand what is occurring at an energetic level. This knowledge will hopefully give you the resolve and courage you need to make it through those vulnerable times of change when you desire extra emotional support and are met with the exact opposite. And by the way, your friends and family will eventually adjust. A new equilibrium in each relationship will be established. And if not, you might consider if that relationship is worth preserving. Not everything in our world is meant to accompany us on our path of evolution. Change is our nature.

Thank & Grow Rich

“I

n 2013, my world was chokeslammed upside down. And I mean that in the best possible way. After 20-plus years of being a writer, sitting in my pajamas penning 15 books and countless magazine articles, I dropped the tracks for ESquared. For whatever reason (luck, timing, planets aligning), that little black book with the funny title shot up into the stratosphere, capturing the number one spot on the New York Times bestseller list. It has since been translated into 30some languages. To this day, I can’t open my in-box without finding e-mails that start with some version of “You are never going to believe this.” It’s like waking up every morning to my own self-help channel. “Guess what?” readers will write. “I just won $500,” or “I just got my dream job on a horse farm.” And I get to celebrate with them right here in Lawrence, Kansas. I get to add to their energy of excitement and joy. I am deeply humbled to think my words might have helped even one person recognize a deeper truth. I am infinitely grateful that the do-it-yourself experiments in E-Squared cracked open a window to the unending beneficence of the universe. In fact, if any serious researcher out there is looking for evidence that the world is limitless, abundant, and strangely accommodating—one of nine spiritual principles covered in ESquared—I’ve got a whole folder full of lab report sheets I’d be willing to share. Occasionally, however, I get an e-mail from a reader who’s pissed. They want to know who I think I am, claiming the world is a beautiful place. They want to know why all the good stuff happens to everybody else. They claim to have seen no evidence of what I call the field of infinite potentiality (the “FP”), and they’re going to, poor things, go out and eat worms. This book is for them. And for that scared little place in all of us that still can’t quite believe the universe actually likes us and works in cahoots with our highest aspirations. When I can, I write back to these unhappy naysayers. I often send a blog

BY PAM GROUT post about my own days of worm cuisine. I encourage them to give it one more shot, to keep looking for the magic. I started to notice a pattern within these anomalous “Why me?” letters. As I said, they sound a lot like my own crazy voices, the wild-haired loudmouths that still occasionally raise their hands in the back of my head. “Hey, you!” they like to scream. “You’re all alone. The world doesn’t care about you. This is all bullshit.” Those voices are the popular kids. The ones who make the nightly news, the ones we discuss around the water-cooler, the ones we appoint commissions and launch websites to fight. In other words, the dominant paradigm. But they’re not the truth. They will never be the truth. Another theme I noticed is just how hard these readers are trying—repeating affirmations, making vision boards, drawing focus wheels. I have nothing against those practices. I’ve been known to use some of them myself. But what happens when we fight and work and struggle, because we think nothing will change unless we do, is we

put up roadblocks to all the good that wants to manifest right before our eyes. The last thing I noticed about the “life sucks” e-mails is how deadly serious they all were. Oh! The gravitas! The sobriety! “I did everything exactly as you said,” they’d accuse with a hint of feral anger. And every time, I was tempted to tell a stupid joke or make a goofball face. Anything to get them to—lighten up, people! The whole idea is to have fun! To play around in the quantum sandbox! But yelling at serious people never works. At least it never works on the serious voices in my own head. But here’s what does: Giving myself a break. Counting my blessings. And getting on the frequency of joy and gratitude.

thinking. If you want to override your brain’s unfortunate habit of leafing through your past and creating a present hologram to match, forget thinking. And start thanking. And I mean thanking everything. The bills that are stacking up. The doctor’s report you weren’t expecting. The buffoon of a boyfriend who drank an entire bottle of tequila last night and puked on your new Oriental carpet. When we practice this brand of ferocious gratitude—what I have dubbed the extreme sport of gratitude—we come to realize that all the striving, the endless struggle, the perpetual scrambling for our place in line, is unnecessary. In truth, it’s counterproductive and actually blocks the energy field that is and always has been available to sustain and guide us. Brazen gratitude provides a portal, an entry point straight into the heart of the very field of infinite possibilities my other two Hay House books introduced. It puts you on an energetic frequency, a vibration that calls in miracles. When you’re on this frequency (and it’s very different from Eddie Haskell “That’s a lovely dress, Mrs. Cleaver” platitudes), there’s really very little else you have to do. The universe happily shows up with blessings and guidance. All

you have to do is nod, don your scarf and new shades, and enjoy the ride. Giving thanks, recognizing all the good in your life, is the gateway drug to a life most extraordinary. It’s the superpower that moves you onto the frequency where beauty and joy and creativity happen. And here’s the big “secret.” You don’t have to work at connecting with this energy field. You don’t have to be good enough to merit its attention. Or follow any formula to find it. You really don’t have to do anything . . . Except . . . . . . quit listening to the voices. Quit creating static. This sweet, loving, allknowing energy force is here right now, waiting like the bull on the other side of the rodeo gate, ready to charge out the very second you lift the barriers of all you’ve been taught. It’s pawing at the dirt, chomping at the bit, waiting for you to recognize that pretty much everything you’ve learned since the moment you popped out into the material plane is dead wrong. This universal energy force never disappears. Or plays peekaboo or hideand-go-seek. It never falters. It never does anything but love and give and bestow blessings.

EVOLVING…IN KANSAS CITY

This book is yet another chance (but please know you don’t need this book or anything or anyone else) to prove there’s a better way, a more natural way of living. It will help you tap into a frequency where miracles are as common as pie. Like my previous Hay House books that offer real-time experiments, this one offers a 30-day trial in ferocious, militant, in-your-face gratitude. Spirituality, as I’ve always said, should be more than theory. The hypothesis for the 30-day experiment is insanely simple: If you devote yourself to scouting blessings, you’ll find them out the wazoo. If you turn each day into a 24-hour miracle reconnaissance mission, you’ll call forth Truth. You’ll get the happily ever after. The book also contains 27 party games (who needs exercises?) that are easy to play, rip-roaringly fun, and guaranteed to build your abundance portfolio. (I’ll talk more about the five components of this blue-chip capital in later chapters.) Just know that by the time you have finished the month-long gratitude party prescribed in this book, you will look around at the parallel universe you’ve suddenly entered and think, Really? Whatever happened to my depression? My fear? Was I insane back then?

11

October 2016

You will behold the proof, as A Course in Miracles promises, that love trumps fear, laughter trumps tears, and abundance trumps loss. And it all starts with recognizing the beauty that surrounds you, flows through you, fills you with light. It all starts with getting on the frequency of gratitude.

Your Inner Athlete and the Art of Manifestation

BY SUMYA ANANI

Speaking positively about ourselves is a skill that should be taught in schools. 'My upper body is so weak' becomes 'I am getting stronger every day.' Muhammad Ali understood the power of the spoken word when he claimed, over and over again, "I am the greatest." He constantly spoke in positive affirmations. What we attach after the words 'I am' is especially important. I am capable of achieving anything I set my mind to.

Chakra Four—Love

T

he 2016 Olympic Games were an inspiring example of the potential of human body, mind, and spirit. As the torch was lit in the opening ceremony, a spark inspired me to discover and realize my own potential as an "inner athlete." Maybe the Olympics lit a flame in you as well. We are all innately wired for greatness. Athletic competitions are a perfect example of manifestation. As a former professional boxer, I appreciate the countless hours Olympic athletes spend training and refining their skills. Whether they know it or not, great athletes draw on the power of their chakras in working toward their goals. We can all follow this model as "inner athletes" on our own journey of achieving our dreams.

Chakra Seven—Think The first step is to ask, "What do I want to accomplish?" Dwell on that. Fill your mind with the ways and means to achieve it. Thoughts are the building blocks of our lives. Positive thinking is the first step in creating positive changes. We can achieve anything we can conceive. Louise Hay, author and motivational speaker says, "You can do it. I can do it. We can all do it." When we pay attention to our thoughts we may notice a negative inner dialogue. This is our most challenging opponent. It can be a rite of passage to overcome this opponent by learning to believe in and love ourselves. Do I always have positive thoughts? No. But I try to prevent my mind from

essential to facing obstacles that may arise. Yes. You. Can.

Chakra Two—Passion What makes your heart sing? Following our passions and living with joy are essential as we navigate life. The best athletes stay connected with passion for their sport. Mia Hamm, two time Olympic gold medalist in soccer said, “Somewhere behind the athlete you’ve become and the hours of practice and the coaches who have pushed you is a little girl who fell in love with the game and never looked back… play for her.” Enthusiasm makes the world a better place. Harmony and joy are the blessings of a life lived passionately. Find your purpose in life. Plug in, stay true to yourself, and never look back.

Chakra One—And So It Is Realizing our dreams is a journey. In the first chakra, the goal has been realized. For Olympic athletes, all the years of preparation and training may culminate in a few seconds or minutes of competition. With Olympic medals around their necks, imagine their feeling of fulfillment. Writers who write for years finally hold their book in hand. Dancers, actors, and musicians finally get their big chance to perform on stage. You, too, have already accomplished a lot in life. More dreams lie ahead. You can accomplish anything. The world needs your gifts, dear reader. What spark is glowing within you, urging you to explore where your "inner athlete" will lead you next? What "Olympic" dreams do you have? There is nothing you can't do. I wish you peace and love on your discovery of greatness. The spark in me honors the spark in you. Namaste

Negotiate new rules in current bonds, or you’ll attract a new person who embraces your fierceness!

Taurus (April 20 – May 20) Be kind to your body and your spiritual life expands. Renew your eating and health habits so it seems like an adventure rather than a dreary discipline. Focus on rootedness and everything else effortlessly expands and flourishes!

Aquarius (Jan. 20 – Feb. 18) Spiritually, being an Aquarius is about expanding your intellect and “know-it-all-ness” by surrounding into your “quantum” intuitive mind. Meditate on the fact that you can’t know everything nor can you figure everything out. Most importunely, connect with the loving Divine Mind and feel that it’s safe to be vulnerable and “unknowing”. You might feel temporarily powerless, but that will blossom into empowered relationships, self-esteem and a sense of safety. You’ll have less tension mentally and physically and feel gracefully joyous!

Gemini (May 21 – June 20) You can start a wonderful new relationship with someone who truly resonates with you! You’ve done the internal work to clear out old wounds, disappointments and betrayals. Now new love can flow in and you feel that you deserve it! If partnered, you can have incredible healing together even if things have felt like a “lost cause”. Keep releasing the old “bummer” programming and re-wire yourself for joy and trust!

New people will also come into your life to “validate” your new, happier beliefs about yourself! Leo (July 23 – Aug. 22) Many issues with your health or stress patterns can be healed by changing your habitual thoughts and words. Meditate on why you use certain statements and ponder the implications these unconscious “affirmations” have on your body. Make a concerted effort to create conscious positive affirmations and your energy level will increase, and also incredible opportunities will open up in your work life. Virgo (Aug. 23 – Sept. 22) Explore the connection between prosperity and spirituality. Meditate on how valuable you are to the universe as your unique self!
