(The instructor) gave us the knowledge and ‘rules’ regarding art in general and watercolor specifically, then let us practice different aspects. While she gave us the guidelines and demonstrates how to follow them, she also gave us the freedom to color outside the lines. I am new to watercolor, as were several others, and there are accomplished artists in class with us, but we all are able to learn and enjoy the process. – Collene L. on Abstract Watercolors with Virginia Paquette

Schlock Cinema: Epic Failures

This fall we’ll screen films on the theme of monsters and ghouls struggling against their nature…and failing miserably. First up is a delightfully convoluted (and somewhat legendary) film from Roger Corman called Blood Bath—a confusing jumble cobbled out of Yugoslavian spy-thriller originally called Portrait of Terror. Redirected by Jack Hill and then re-re-directed by Stephanie Rothman in an effort to revamp it into a horror flick about an insane painter, they ultimately found themselves with a glorious mess. Next up is the last (and worst) film of the ’40s Universal Classic Monster series, She Wolf of London starring June Lockhart (later beloved as the iconic TV mom from Lassie and Lost in Space). Then we have our FIRST EVER DOUBLE FEATURE! Invasion of The Reptoids and Zombie on the Loose both starring renown Ed Wood crony, Conrad Brooks (Plan 9 From Outer Space and Glen or Glenda). We’ll then screen our first Italian Giallo film, Fangs of the Living Dead featuring Anita Ekberg. We wrap up the quarter with Peter Cushing in the oddball Hammer suspense film, Cash on Demand a Scrooge-inspired holiday tale that doesn’t sound like a horror flick but may leave you feeling a little chilled. 7221 10/20/2016 - 11/17/2016 7:00 - 9:00PM 5 ses Th Hopkins On Campus: LB Bldg Room 1131 $79
