Welcome to Continuing Education! Springing to Mind Since 1970 Spring’s return to the Pacific Northwest is a truly unique event. Everywhere we look, we are delighted to the signs and symbols of rebirth and renewal. We see it in the colorful explosion of springtime crocus and tulips, the hum of bees and folks returning to favorite outdoor activities like gardening, hiking and leisurely strolls through the park.

This spring take advantage of that renewable seasonal energy and join a class with Continuing Education.

(The instructor) created a relaxed and non-judgmental atmosphere to explore watercolor painting and to develop your skills. As someone new to painting, and who hasn’t had an art class in 30 years, I really appreciated her encouragement, her ability to find something positive to say about each painting while at the same time offering constructive advice on ways to improve the various elements or composition. Schlock Cinema: Well Meant Disasters

This spring Schlock Cinema examines how good intentions tend to pave the way to a certain very hot place. First off, we hop into the camp classic, Night of The Lepus, (1972) starring Janet Leigh (Psycho), Stuart Whitman, Rory Calhoun and Classic Star Trek’s original Dr. “Bones” McCoy, DeForest Kelley as they battle angry, oversized, mutant bunnies who’ve kicked the carrot habit and are now out for blood! Next up is one of Boris Karloff’s rarest films, The Devil Commands (1941), wherein a disgraced (but wellintentioned) mad scientist seeks to communicate with the dead via radio waves and unflattering headgear. We follow with The Couch (1961), a disturbing tale of a Norman Bates wannabe who gives doctor/patient confidentiality a bad name. The film features a screenplay by none other than Robert Bloch (Psycho) and story by Blake Edwards (The Pink Panther). Next is Werner Herzog’s best “fiend,” Klaus Kinski in The Dead Eyes of London (1961), an extremely off-beat “krimi”—a bizarre subgenre of 1960s–70s European crime flicks repackaged for American television as horror films. A parking permit will be emailed to you for use during your class time. A Continuing Education parking permit is required to park on campus anytime Monday through Friday.
