Letter from the Mayor of Coral Springs: Scott Brook

Dear Coral Springs Residents, I hope your New Year has gotten off to a good and healthy start. Personally, Brenda and I were blessed with our fourth grandson, Jack Walter! So, our New Year is off to a great start. With the new year, we have new beginnings and new possibilities. I know many people have been affected negatively by Covid and its variations. I am grateful to our City professionals for taking such a proactive approach throughout the last two years and for keeping our community as open and safe as possible! I am sure you can see the progress that is being made with the Cornerstone

Development of our Downtown. It is great to see from my Fifth floor window on a regular basis. I am hosting in-person meetings at City Hall and would love to hear from you. In order to schedule an appointment, please call my

Executive Assistant, Luwam Ghermay, at 954-344-5906.

Our City received a great recognition in January. MoneyGeek, a personal finance technology company, analyzed crime statistics in nearly 300 cities with populations over 100,000 to find the safest cities in America. Our City came in as the the 13th safest city in America! I have loved raising all five of our children here and have them all feel and be safe, thanks to our wonderful Police Department!

We have so many great assets in our community from the people to the parks, from the First Responders to all of the volunteers! We also have many great businesses that call Coral Springs home! Please join us as we celebrate our local businesses regularly by posting on social media with #ShopCs.

Our Economic Development Department has been very active and we have a strong Economic Development Advisory Committee that I am very grateful for. We will be recognizing various businesses very soon for our annual Business

Excellence Awards. BY the time you read this, all of the nominations will be in, but I would be happy to consider a unique recognition of a business or business owner in the future, if you email me at SBrook@coralsprings.org.

Our City has developed an incentive program to provide financial support to various businesses. In order to encourage business and property owners to rehabilitate, renovate or improve their property, the City Commission approved an Incentive Program designed to significantly improve the appearance of exteriors of commercial properties within the City of Coral Springs. These grants are available to all office, retail, manufacturing, and industrial property owners. Learn more on our website at www.coralsprings.org. The last news I would like to share is concerning Work-based learning. The City of Coral Springs wishes to collaborate with educational institutions and local businesses to create high-quality internship and workbased learning experiences for both businesses and students. If you are interested in getting involved, email kbartlett@coralsprings.org. It is an incredible honor to serve as your Mayor and I am happy to take your calls and texts at 954-494-9872. Your Friendly Mayor,
