Letter from Mayor of Plantation Lynn Stoner

Dear Plantation Residents,

We have many wonderful things happening in our city as we get our kids ready to go back to school this fall. I’m so excited about the new beginnings a new school year has to offer including the fall weather and the many fun events our city has planned. The City of Plantation offers something for everyone to enjoy. Whether you are looking for fun and safe sports programs or adventurous activities, we have programs for every member of your family this season. There are numerous events coming up, so be sure to mark your calendar.

The Parks & Recreation Department will host their Virtual Madden Tournament on

September 24. October is packed with activities, beginning with the Halloween and Safety Fall Festival at Volunteer Park on October 15. The annual MLK Essay Contest begins on October 17. The Plantation Plant Fair will be held at Volunteer Park on October 22 & 23. The Multi-family Garage Sale at Volunteer Park is on October 29. Be sure to bring the kids out to the Trunk or Treat Halloween event taking place at Central Park on October 31.

The Helen B. Hoffman Plantation Library (temporarily located at Deicke Auditorium) offers story-time and activities for early literacy, young children, and tweens. Community service hours are available at the library through the Adopt-A-Shelf program for middle and high school students. The Plantation Fire Department, will host a special story time with a visit to the library in October (details will be available soon). Our Model

Train Exhibit is available at the Plantation Historical Museum through October 1, so be sure to visit the museum while it’s still on display. The City of Plantation offers many recreational programs and activities including art classes, piano lessons, chess, Zumba and more. All programs can be found in our Recreation Quarterly magazine as well as in the pages that lie ahead. We are very proud to provide you and your family with quality, value-driven public services, recreation and leisure programs, and first-class parks and facilities, and being able to make them available to residents and visitors at affordable prices, offering convenient hours. I hope you are able to enjoy some (if not all) of our wonderful City’s events! If you have any questions about our events, please contact our Parks and Recreation Department at (954) 452-2510. Details of all events can be found on the City’s calendar at www.plantation.org and our monthly e-newsletter the Plantation Now! Stay safe and stay well!

Sincerely,

Mayor Lynn Stoner
