FRIENDS OF THE HELEN B. HOFFMAN PLANTATION LIBRARY

A small group of friends, who shared a common interest in books, formed this club in 1970. Their mission was to: “Promote and foster the use and growth of the Plantation Library.” Meetings are the 2nd Monday of each month. GFWC PLANTATION WOMAN’S CLUB

The Club, founded in 1949, is proud of its many contributions to residents, city parks, police and fire departments. The Club sponsors students who are Plantation residents at Florida’s public colleges and universities with financial scholarships. They donate to public schools and promote a wide variety of community improvement projects. Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month, September through May, location to be determined. KIDS IN DISTRESS AUXILIARY

KIDS is a local non-profit agency, providing a full continuum of care, dedicated to the treatment and prevention of child abuse. The KID Auxiliary is a warm-hearted volunteer group, which supports educational, and social events, while raising public awareness through their ongoing fundraising efforts. KIWANIS CLUB OF PLANTATION

The KIWANIS Club of Plantation has served the community for more than 60 years. The club provides scholarships to high school students, Dictionaries to 3rd graders and reading books to 1st graders, as well as various items for food banks. The club Motto is: Serving the Children of the Community. They also sponsor KIWANIS youth organizations in Elementary Schools (K-Kids), Middle Schools (Builder’s Club), High schools (Key Club) and Colleges (Circle-K Int’l). KNIGHTS OF PYTHIAS

The Fraternal Order promotes enhancing the community through service. Meetings are each Wednesday at 7:00pm. The organization is for men and it is non-sectarian, fraternal order. KIDS CLUB AT HUMANE SOCIETY OF BROWARD COUNTY

Do you love animals? Do you want to learn more about taking care of dogs, cats and other pets? Do you want to help the homeless animals? Then join Reggie’s Kids Club at the Humane Society of Broward County. The Club meets once a month, for an hour and a half, after school. A support group designed just for the stay-at-home mother of today! PLANTATION HISTORICAL SOCIETY

The Plantation Historical Society meets every 4th Thursday of the month, at the Plantation Historical Museum at 511 North Fig Tree Lane, behind the Plantation Library. THE PLANTATION JUNIOR WOMAN’S CLUB

The Plantation Junior Woman’s Club, founded in 1960, is a non-profit club that provides community service to the city, it’s schools and was key in founding the South Florida chapter of “Make A Wish”. The club combines social and cultural interests and welcomes all women to join, you do not have to live in Plantation to become a member. Established in 1985, for people interested in parliamentary law, and in learning how to preside over a meeting. SOUTH FLORIDA MOTHERS OF MULTIPLES

South Florida Mothers of Multiples (a registered d/b/a of CSMOMS) is a non-profit organization committed to supporting parents of multiples in South Florida. We are a diverse group of moms who get together with our little ones for educational and social activities throughout the tri-county area. THE SOUTH FLORIDA TRAIL RIDERS OF BROWARD

The South Florida Trail Riders of Broward was established in 1979 to promote equestrian activities in South Florida. VOICES FOR CHILDREN OF BROWARD COUNTY

Nonprofit organization dedicated to raising money for and awareness of the Guardian Ad Litem Program, which provides an advocate for abused and neglected children. Children benefit greatly from the advocacy of a Guardian ad Litem, a trained volunteer from the community, who simply wants to make sure the best interests of the children are served. The Guardian ad Litem program recruits, trains and supervises volunteers who work one on one with these children. 9:00AM-1:00PM. Come and kick off celebrating Plantation’s wildlife by getting a closer look at them! What’s a BioBlitz? This event will be held at Plantation Preserve Linear Park where community members work with park staff to create a snapshot of the variety of wildlife that can be found in our beautiful city. We use an app called iNaturalist to take pictures of plants, insects, and animals to see what wildlife is present in the park on this day! All ages, children must be accompanied by an adult. FREE.

21ST ANNIVERSARY OF 9/11, NEVER FORGOTTEN

8:30AM-10:30AM. The City of Pembroke Pines will remember and honor the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives during terrorist attacks in New York, Washington D.C. and Shanksville, Pennsylvania. The City of Pembroke Pines invites everyone to attend the 21st Anniversary of 911. The ceremony will take place at Memorial Park adjacent to the Charles F. Dodge City Center, located at 601 City Center Way. The ceremony, which is free, will begin with the Presentation of Colors by the City of Pembroke Pines Police and Fire Department Honor Guards. It will also include guest speakers, community leaders and patriotic music featuring local school bands and area musicians.
