25TH ANNUAL ART & MUSIC FEST IN THE PINES

The City of Pembroke Pines invites all artists and crafters to apply to the 25th Annual Art & Music Fest in the Pines, taking place at the Charles F. Dodge City Center, 601 City Center Way, on Saturday, November 4th from 11:00AM to 8:00PM and Sunday, November 5th, from 12:00PM to 5:00PM. Applications to the 25th Annual Art & Music Fest in the Pines are available through ZAPP at www.zapplication.org until October 25th.. Interested parties are encouraged to apply via ZAPP searching “Art Fest Pines” or by visiting www.ppines.com/artmusicfest. Student artists are also encouraged to apply to the 6th Annual Student Art Competition as part of the event. Students residing in Pembroke Pines and/or attending a Pembroke Pines School or a City art class in grades K-12 are eligible to enter the Student Art Competition. Students from each grade level (K2), (3-5) (6-8) and (9-12) will be eligible to receive the following prizes: 1st Place Winner receives $100 gift card, 2nd Place Winner receives $50 gift card & 3rd Place Winner receives $25 gift card. A completed Artist Application and the student’s artwork will be accepted at Studio 18 Art Complex from Tuesday, September 5th-Wednesday, October 18th until 5:00PM. • PRESS PLAY – PRINTING WORKSHOP: Join artist Daniel Marosi on September 15, during National Arts in Education Week, to learn a variety of printmaking techniques. Experiment hands on with block printing, mono printing, and blind emboss. All supplies are provided with support from the Broward County Cultural Division. This workshop is free and open to teens ages 12-15.

• KEY WEST HANDPRINT FABRICS LECTUER: Join us for a lecture about Florida and printmaking presented by Cori Convertito, lead historian at the Florida Keys History Center. Learn the story of how Key West Handprint Fabrics became a backbone of industry to the Island. Friday, August 18, 7:00PM – 8:00PM.

• CARVE, INK, & REPEAT: Learn the basics of relief printing in this beginner-friendly printmaking workshop led by Studio 18 resident artist and member of Miami based studio IS Projects, Aliya Gordon. Ages 18+ (16+ with parent or guardian present for entire workshop). Saturday, August 26th, 10:00AM – 1:00 PM.

• WEARABLE ART: Learn how to use fabric paint, hand embroidery techniques, and traditional design transfer methods to give clothing new life in this upcycling workshop led by artist Melanie Olivia.
