Letter from the Editor

Spatial vibe is not a myth It is controllable, measurable and real As obvious as this may be, the less obvious part is the strong dependence between vibe and meaning Science may not have all the tools, but the foundation is there, and the data is available

A bliss and a curse of our modern times, we all need meaning in our lives Enhancing our capacity to search for it depends on our available energy to pursue what is required to achieve it It is the ongoing cycle of the everyday, lived one minute at a time The under-tapped territory of spatial neurodesign will take center stage in the coming years, and I'm proud to say that Dochia has been a visionary at the forefront of it for years

Read about a look at the unusual trend for 'gobliness' as a result of covid lockdown and the power of stage set in Wicked

Oh! and if you happen to be, say, hmmm in New York any time soon, take a look at the culture piece and don't miss the show; it's a blast!

Happy reading,

Even in the most doubtful moments, the dreams we dream about ourselves are always thrilling and unsophisticated splashes of wonder at our potential to achieve sublime joy

The ease with which we move within our imagination is quickly dismissed when a good reality is cast upon us Sometimes, we become content and relaxed at the expense of not seeing the next step that can take us even further.

Vibing well is an awesome ride to catch upward, not something to bathe in, like a stagnant pool after a summer's shower rain.

This February marks the one-year anniversary since this unlikely candidate sprouted out of obscurity and launched into public view.

As it emerged and gained notoriety, everyone connected with the idea it relayed: a casual, comfortable, loose and easy self in the familiar ambiance of one's own living quarters, shifting around, dressed up exactly how they want, unapologetic and even slightly lazy yet, completely content.

Ultimate comfort is the 2023 number one purpose of any home While it may mean different things to different people, comfort is actually quite a simple and attainable goal. Anyone can have both, its style and affordability

It may be as simple as owning a super comfy couch to sit down on after a hard day's work You can put your feet up and chat away, watch tv or do whatever it is you do on your couch It may be a fantastic mud room for all five members of the family, where each and every one has a spot for hats and mittens while those dirty puddle-jumping boots have a place of their own. Or it may be the elevator taking you from one level to the next, as you can't walk those stairs as you used to anymore

When the American nurse practitioner Katherine Kolcaba developed the Theory of comfort in the 1990s, she was concerned with the lack of understanding and respect toward patients' wellbeing. She established a methodology based on learnings from various fields, including ergonomics By now, the theory is widely used and internationally accepted in medical care. Yet its applicability goes well beyond that.

Chosen by over 340,000 public voters, 'Goblin mode' is the Oxford dictionary 2022 Word of the year.

When Dochia examined the habits of living of over two hundred clients, various patterns emerged that revealed a strong connection between comfort and convenience. Clients contemplated options for placing a TV across from a living room couch, a chair next to a reading lamp, or the softness of a relaxing nook in a window with a view Their decision was primarily made based on being in 'goblin mode' It was seldom that aesthetic criteria governed over convenience but the vice-versa was also true. They did not want to compromise either. These days, we want both.

However, ease of use was essential to most because it enhanced the experience of a specific task. People live through actions, not through the static quality of functionally isolated aesthetics But when beauty joins in, the experiences of a space and what we do in it are at their most.

Well-organized and convenient areas and objects in your home will act as an extension of your being. That's what home comfort is all about.

Healthy homes should have interiors that refine and polish comfort

And that is done mainly through convenience.

AWICKED KINDOFREVIEW

Two girls, one blonde and one green-skinned come together by conjuncture and become unlikely friends Top and bottom of the heap of the social maze of teenage drama, their story is a timeless piece of coming-of-age friendship bonding.

As the plot progresses and life tosses them around, the many layers of friendship slowly peel off, revealing a world of hidden secrets, manipulation and control. And so we leave the high school musical and enter the magical world of Oz.

The truth about every product of creation is that what the public sees and experiences is the leftovers Everything else has been eliminated The wrong moves, misfit ideas, useless repetitions, contrived lines, ineffective components, impractical solutions What remains is a polished jewel of precisely what needs to be said, sensed, understood and enjoyed.

The complexity of art, especially the multilayered world of theatre, lies in the weaving of its tools to deliver the message. Audiences tend to focus on the acting and the words and think of sets as background This play says as much through its set as it does through th plot

Gershwin theatre is one of the largest theatres on Broadway Built in the 70s, it has a simple proscenium arch and not a lot of character compared to the more ornate historical venues. The set designers of Wicked, an architect and engineer, looked upon this as an opportunity Instead of a backdrop for the performance, they built elements of the story directly into the set. The proscenium is entirely overshadowed by a gigantic clock-dragon marionette that can move by way of pulleys and ropes, extending the realm of Oz engagingly toward the audience.

| 21

The set designers worked with one of the most intriguing metaphors in the book. They created a mechanical yet elegant tool that not only acts as a set prop but is the mechanism that propels the story forward The a tik-toking dragon of history and the unravelling past It ca facilitate time travel, not unlik at work, reminiscing Used as a transition element, the dragon reveals related events as they memories We float on its wing through the swing of time as t part of the story emerges

Spoiler alert!

The importance of Oz's character to the story is not revealed until much later in the play. The way the set conveys, with all its pulleys, exposed mechanisms and many contraptions, the world behind the curtain presents the characters as puppets in his world. It is a simple yet subtle setdesign move that underlines the plot's message. Every good performance has an explicable, nonverbal construct that complements the character-delivered story. Be it the set or sometimes in more minor costume details, the theatric experience is wholistic and Wicked is a thrilling example.

The clock is a tik-toking dragon of history, stories and the unravelling past.
