A Captivating Special Edition For The Month of July There is a saying, “Life is a vibrant process of becoming.” And, it doesn’t take statistics to comprehend how travel enriches life. It can be challenging to emphasize its relevance because of its infinity. Travel has numerous advantages, including psychological and physical changes. It shapes a person’s personality and provides priceless experiences that advance a person’s professional, academic, and personal growth. In reality, it has helped me develop a transcendental level of awareness and an exploratory mindset. As editors, we are constantly expected to be curious about new thoughts, delve deeply into ideas, and uncover the most attractive options. Even though I don’t travel frequently, my short and simple excursions have helped me become freer, open-minded, self-assured, independent, a quick learner, braver, creative, and productive. Going international can help a firm expand and increase its revenue margin, just as travelling enhances a person’s potential. A business can still make money from new clients even after its domestic markets are saturated. It also makes it possible to help more people and provide service to more clients. It provides access to a talent pool with distinctive abilities and mindsets that can create a competitive edge. A business can connect with different cultures and pick up linguistic nuances by expanding beyond territorial frontiers. This enhances a company’s reputation and exposes it to overseas investment prospects. Last but not least, a company diversifies its markets and increases the stability of its revenue sources. Even though it might be challenging to seek global opportunities and the market is now quite volatile, an effective plan can help overcome these challenges and yield rewards for a business. Whether it’s travelling or going global, in both scenarios, the core entity steps up its game. With this realization in mind, our current edition puts the spotlight on a leading forex service provider. This is Paul Merchants. The company is a reputable one-stop-shop for all foreign travel, money transfers, studying abroad, and currency exchange needs. The six-page story highlights the company’s rise to prominence and how it’s holding the position of a market leader. The edition also features several prominent business entities with compelling stories. Be sure to check them out. In the end, the thing we need to understand is stepping beyond boundaries makes life worth living. Whether you are a traveler packing for your next trip or an entrepreneur planning to go global, remember the effort is worth every penny!

Relationships are important to us. At Paul Merchants, we follow a simple principle: A satisfied customer is a permanent asset, and a satisfied employee is the base of customer satisfaction.

THE TEAM

Paul Merchants believes that a responsible firm should have a self-regulatory and corporate governance system in place to ensure that ethical standards and transparency with customers and business partners are upheld. The notion that everything they do as a business will definitely have an impact on all elements of society, and that it is their sacred obligation to bear responsibility for that impact, has driven them along.

Rajneesh Bansal, Managing Director, Paul Merchants Ltd., has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills, tact, and initiative in conjunction with the company’s goals and objectives. He also brought the many new businesses for the company into existence and specifically managed the strategic development of the all products and services. He is also responsible for the Finance, Marketing, IT Enhancements and other business development initiatives of the company.

The customers speak for Paul Merchants, and this is how they have distinguished themselves from the competition.

He has been actively involved in the digital transformation of the company. Under his able guidance, the company has obtained a Prepaid Instrument Licence from RBI. Rajneesh is also the president of the Association for Foreign Exchange Operators in India and Chair of the Travel and Tourism Committee of the PHDCCD, Chandigarh.

During the epidemic, every firm had to deal with a difficult situation. PML’s main difficulty was dealing with decreased demand and dwindling markets. Due to a decrease in income, people became extremely cautious about making any kind of purchase. However, as a powerful and trusted brand, the company’s first and greatest goal was to ensure that consumers’ services were uninterrupted. The company began providing services in digital formats and provided door-to-door services, allowing it to better serve customers. During the change, it launched various digital services in record time and created a slew of new goods. Using digital technologies to help scale the business was also beneficial.

Employees are the most valuable asset at Paul Merchants, according to the company’s leadership. They want to foster a culture that values diversity, innovation, compassion, and respect. They believe that having a diverse workforce improves their overall skills. In all of its branch offices, the company is proud to be an equal-opportunity employer, and does not discriminate on the basis of race, caste, religion, colour, gender, origin, or disability.

MBA

THREE TIMES CAT FAILURE TO A

SUCCESS STORY

CHAIWALA MILLIONAIRE

P

rafull Billore is a name well known among Indian youth for good reasons. And why shouldn’t it be?? This 22-year-old man has set up a successful business which has a turnover of Rs. 3 crores. Billore has a business of selling tea and lives in Ahmedabad where he is famous as “MBA Chaiwallah”. Let’s know his inspirational journey.

Only those people get success who have the courage to pursue their goals. Praful Billore is one of those people who have goals and the courage to pursue it. Even after failing in prestigious CAT (Common Admission Test) exams for three years consecutively, he didn’t let this failure pin him down, rather, he adjusted his way and pursued his goal in a more meaningful way.

www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 4 | Special Edition July 2022 INDIA

16

Millions of candidates sit for MBA admissions tests such as CAT, XAT, and MAT every year. They all sit for the exam hoping to join IIMs and securing a job in MNCs. Praful Billore was also one of them. But, after failing CAT three times, the son of a farmer from Labravda village in Madhya Pradesh, Praful Billore, chose to pursue his dream of becoming a rich man and started his own small business. He opened a chai cart in front of his dream college IIM Ahmedabad.

“Whatever you do, do it completely honestly, work hard, and success will follow. Be the greatest at what you do, whether you create shoes or sell tea. Give it your all in anything you do.” Praful motivates. The 22-year-old has 22 outlets for his company across the nation and is soon planning to launch a store abroad. He is now a crorepati. In 2020, he had a yearly revenue of more than Rs 3 crore.

Initial Struggle:

Praful highlighted the success of premium tea establishments like Chaayos and Chai Point, which started much earlier than MBA chaiwallah, asserting that a chai business will always prosper in India, however, recalling his business objective he says, MBA Chaiwallah’s objective is to cater to the general public who would want to have a cup of tea for between 40 and 50 rupees while relaxing in a café.

Praful disregarded his father’s advice to get an MBA degree for a “safe” future and started travelling to different cities in search of employment. Soon, he started working at a McDonald’s outlet. While travelling he used to talk to local people from different walks of life and learnt about their business. In this process while talking to a tea seller, he got convinced to start a tea cart. He took a loan of Rs 8,000 from his father for the sake of doing some academic course but ended up purchasing tea supplies and opened a tea cart in front of Indian Institute of Management- Ahmedabad, the college of his dreams. On the very first day, he made a profit of Rs 150 which became a memorable day for him. People naturally would get attracted towards this English-Speaking chaiwallah. “No food or beverage other than chai is consumed throughout India. I didn’t know how to make one but I knew everyone would drink it. If I wanted to start another business, it would need an investment of a minimum of Rs 1 lakh, and I didn’t have that kind of money. With Rs 8,000 in my pocket, I started selling chai roadside,” he recalls. After working for a few months at McDonald’s, the youngster started earning extra money by selling tea as well. Praful enrolled at a local institution to earn an MBA after borrowing another Rs 50,000 from his family, but he soon realised that running a business had taught him more than studying it. He left college on the seventh day and expanded his tea shop via networking with IIM students and staff.

MBA Chaiwala - The Brand:

As his small business was picking up, the local authorities destroyed his tea stall, and he was obliged to rent a small space next to a hospital to build a new one. The shop’s original name was Mr. Billore Ahmedabad, but because so many of his customers had trouble pronouncing it, he changed it to MBA Chaiwala which is the short form of Mr. Billore Ahmedabad. “If somebody asks me to prepare chai today, I will decline. It bothers me. I was struggling while I was selling tea on the street, but now I’m concentrating on growing my business,” he jokes. MBA also functioned as a metaphor for his ideal degree, and he has been selling tea under that name. At his new location, he kept introducing new strategies, like setting up a whiteboard next to a tea shop so that customers could get in touch with job seekers and workers. He used to organise cricket tournaments, ludo games as well; this offered them something fresh to look forward to every time they visited his tea shop.

INSPIRATION FOR THE COMPANY AND HOW CAN THEY INSPIRE OTHERS

There are many commendable leaders from whom one can get inspiration for their diverse competencies. The one name that comes forward is Satya Nadela, who was pivotal in helping to shift the image of Microsoft from a dominant tech company to a collaborative workplace that listens to customers and engage positively with regulators worldwide. The transformation of Microsoft from a “closed” provider of operating systems to a giant in the cloud through Azure is truly inspiring. Remaining true to one’s values, beliefs and convictions are important. And what is equally important is to be seen consistently following them in diverse scenarios and situations, at work and outside work. This is the only way to ingrain values in the company’s culture.

FUTURE PROSPECTS OF THE COMPANY

It has already achieved leadership in the mobility space in India. The customer’s expectations and preferences are changing and the mobility industry is undergoing huge disruption. Thanks to its customer-centric approach, adaptability to change and the leveraging of technological innovations, it is well-placed to stay in step with its evolving customers. This will not only sustain but strengthen its leadership position in the mobility space.

ACHIEVEMENTS AND MILESTONES OF THE COMPANY

In the past 10 years, their revenue has grown six-fold on the back of rapid growth in the car rental business, the acquisition of new businesses like the chauffeur-driven service for Emirates First Class and Business Class passengers and the launch of operating lease, fleet management, and employee ridesharing services. A significant development came after the launch of their Avis Mobile App. It provides digital access to customers seeking its mobility services and is designed to seamlessly deliver a holistic mobility solution to its users across the globe. Both in 2019 and in 2020, Avis India has been ranked as India’s No 1 car rental company by World Travel Awards. CSR INITIATIVE

Its employees are also encouraged to give back to society by volunteering their time for some charitable activities. In 2019, the total number of manhours spent in such voluntary activities exceeded 2000.

A MESSAGE TO THE READERS OF BUSINESS CONNECT MAGAZINE

As a leader in mobility, its first appeal to the readers is to give the highest priority to personal safety on the road. On a more general note, being adaptable and open to change, having a bias for action over endless data analysis, and having employees who keep the customer at the centre of all their actions is a recipe for success. 21

CATERING NEW-AGE LEARNING METHODOLOGIES TO THE INDIAN EDUCATION SPACE...

W

Kirti Anand | Business Connect

hile the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic has displaced major business sectors in the country, the pandemic also served as a blessing in disguise for higher education and consulting services which infused innovation into an industry that wasn’t involved in digital practices. As more and more overseas education players are shifting towards digitization, eduVelocity has earned the supremacy by disrupting the conventional flow of the industry as well as by adopting new methods of catering to Indian students who continue to express the dream to “study abroad” to pursue higher education both at the undergraduate and master’s levels.

In 2015, eduVelocity began with three students and three team members; now, seven years later, it is an organization of around forty team members that serves numerous clients across 9 different countries via its two offices at Delhi and Chandigarh. Mr.Vinu Warrier, EV’s founder and Managing Partner, established this startup with a vision to guide students acting as their study abroad partner and help build their career through the well experienced and dedicated experts comprising the team. What makes the journey incredible is that EV is the only service provider of its kind that offers an all-inclusive, personalized engagement of up to three years, focusing on working with high school and undergraduate students across three different areas: life skills development; profile development; and admissions and scholarship application.

writing work, portfolio guidance and reviewresearch paper development; and, from A-Z of the overseas university application process until acceptance of an admissions offer, including scholarship applications.

EV VERSUS OTHERS

eduVelocity has established itself as a student-focused, completely transparent, completely personalized, completely professional, completely inclusive, and completely successful overseas education counseling organization powered by process, quality, and outcomes rather than by personalities, profits, and paid promotion. EV is an organization dedicated to match education-seekers with their best-fit programs and universities across the globe… EV is neither an “agent” or a “coaching centre” or an immigration consultant… an organization with zero financial conflict when it comes to the student’s best fit and student’s interest… an organization where geographies become irrelevant both in terms of where the student is based while being engaged with EV, or where they head to, overseas, afterward.

As far as numbers are concerned, eduVelocity holds an impressive record with admissions offers for about 200 different programs for both UG and PG students from more than 500 esteemed universities situated across 19 different countries, namely – US, Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Italy, Spain, Denmark, Netherlands, France, Switzerland, Germany, Finland, Czech Republic, Ireland, and Sweden. Currently, the brand has its hands full with a great tally of students enrolled with them till 2025. The average outgoing class size of EV is more than 100 students and presently, about 400 to 500 students are working on their dreams under the team members’ supervision and guidance. EV’s team of counselors, most of them with master’s degrees in such fields as psychology, counseling, and child and human development, assist both undergraduate and graduate overseas university applicants through services that include psychometric testing; aptitude and career counseling; profile building activities like Model United Nations, Debate competition, research publications and conferences, service and non service initiatives, academic competition/ olympiads, paid learning activities, summer schools, internship opportunities, online learning programs, www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 4 | Special Edition July 2022 INDIA

From the brand’s training and fulfillment models, to counselor qualifications and quality, to personalized processes, to completely transparent, collaborative relationships with students, parents, third-party entities, and the universities from across the world who visit EV offices every year to speak to students. eduVelocity has the most scalable, student-centric, process- and knowledgedriven, geography-agnostic, financially conflict-free fulfilment model in this industry.

SERVICES OFFERED BY EV

We help high school, UG, and PG students make “bestfit” education and career choices for themselves across the world, and in India. To achieve this, the students are handheld throughout their journey with EV. The counseling process involves life skill sessions with counselors to

26

understand the student’s interests, talents, academic aspirations and provide counseling accordingly; plan profile-building activities; and then conduct a thorough program review session to zero in on the right program and university choices with consent of the student and parents.

ACTIVITIES

THE FINAL GOAL IS ATTAINED THROUGH:

EV counselors provide students the opportunity to build confidence and gain hands-on experience through assisting them in building portfolio/ CV/ resume building, arranging internships and research projects, community service activities as well as helping in preparation for MUNs, debates, Olympiads, various workshops, summer school programs and other online activities.

Our team focuses on various activities required to build a strong and impressive profile for a competitive application to the student’s best-fit programs/universities as well as aid in personality development.

PSYCHOMETRIC TESTING

We offer standardized psychometric testing to school students (enrolled with EV/non-EV), along with one-onone counseling to help them make subject choices to suit their aptitude, thus leading to career choices that prove successful in the future. The sessions are virtual or inperson depending on circumstances.

OVERSEAS ADMISSIONS AND SCHOLARSHIP MENTORING

As a special engagement, we offer life skills and personality development training, activities for profile building and admissions guidance for our students and encourage them to explore the multitude of career viable options available in today’s world as well as prepare them for their overseas experience while pursuing higher education.

The admissions team guides students to choose their “bestfit” programs, countries, universities, along with providing complete assistance during the application process for admissions and scholarships. Not only do our counselors identify the “best-fit” overseas universities and programs for students, they assist in SOP writing, interview preparation and pre-departure orientation.

LIFE SKILLS

ACHIEVEMENTS & ACCOLADES

Awarded the Outstanding Personality/Grooming Classes@ International Education Summit and Awards 2020 Awarded the “Best Education Counselor of the Year” -Mr. Vinu Warrier @International Education Awards 2020 eduVelocity’ class of 2021, comprising 106 students received more than 574 admissions offers to programs ranging from the STEM fields, to the social sciences and humanities, to film-making, music, the fine arts, other performing arts, as well as such uncommon, cutting-edge fields like interaction design, music business, business design, fashion marketing, the culinary arts and hospitality management, and sports administration, with a combined scholarship amount (largely merit-based) of slightly over USD 5.4Million (approximately 40 crores)

FUTURE ENDEAVORS

eduVelocity’s prime objective, amidst the rapidly growing but highly disorganized education sector, is to become a credible brand of trust and quality; EV believes that a diversified Higher Education future product, service, and revenue opportunities, both domestic and international will emerge directly as a result of such brand building. The team is planning to raise funding for investing more in technology, increasing the client servicing capacity by expanding the team and reaching out to more institutions in different geographies i.e. starting its operations in the UAE and the GCC countries as they have a significant client base and institutional connections in Dubai. Furthermore, they are also in discussion with individuals and organizations in Nepal, the US, Canada, and Sri Lanka for the outreach and marketing initiatives for client acquisition.

Jagannath Puri Rath Yatra

DATE, HISTORY, SIGNIFICANCE, AND MORE

U

ndoubtedly one of the greatest and most well-known Hindu festivities is the Jagannath Rath Yatra. This year, beginning on July 1 and concluding on July 9 with Bhauda Yatra, the annual event will last nine days. The Rath Yatra festival in Puri, Odisha, celebrates the journey made by the gods Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and goddess Subhadra in their three chariots to the Gundicha temple, where they were born.

Jagannath Rath Yatra: Date and Timings:

According to the Hindu calendar, the Jagannath Rath Yatra 2022 will be observed on Friday, July 1. (Dwitiya Tithi). This year, Dwitiya Tithi will begin at 10:49 am on June 30 and remain till 1:09 pm on July 1, 2022. The entire schedule for the 2022 Jagannath Rath Yatra is as follows: • The Jagannath Rath Yatra will begin on July 1, 2022 (a Friday), and the gods will begin their trip to the Gundicha temple. • Tuesday, July 5, 2022: Hera Panchami (First five days during which deities reside in the Gundicha temple). • Sandhya Darshan, Navami Darshan, or Adap Mandap Darshan on July 8, 2022. a blessed occasion when devotees can visit and worship to all the gods. • Saturday, July 9, 2022: Bahuda Yatra (The period during which the deities return to their home). • Sunday, July 10, 2022: Sunabesa (The period during which all the three deities reside back in the Jagannath temple). • Monday, July 11, 2022: Aadhar Pana (A ritual during which a special drink is offered to the holy chariots). • Tuesday, July 12, 2022: Niladri BJ, a unique rite performed at the conclusion of the Jagannath Yatra.

History and Significance:

The history of the Rath Yatra is surrounded by several myths. According to a tradition, Lord Jagannath makes a yearly pilgrimage to the Gundicha temple with his siblings Subhadra and Balabhadra as per a vow made to queen Gundicha, the wife of King Indradyumna, who was responsible for the construction of the Puri Jagannath shrine. According to legend, Lord Vishwkarma carved the current sculptures of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and goddess Subhadra from a wood log and placed them in the temple, also known as Gundicha temple. It took several months, and while Lord Vishwakarma was working on the god sculptures, Queen Gundicha unlocked the temple entrance and Lord Vishwakarma left, leaving the statues unfinished. Since then, according to legend, Lord Jagannath and his siblings only leave the temple once a year to go to their birthplaces, as promised to queen Gundicha. The present-day Gundicha shrine bears the monarch’s name. The distance between the main temple and the Gundicha temple is around 3 kilometres.

After spending eight days in the Gundicha temple, the deities embark on their Bahuda Yatra, or return journey, on the ninth day. The day the three presiding deities of the Puri Shri Mandir arrive to the temple following the Bahuda Yatra is referred to as Niladri Bije. Niladri Bije marks the conclusion of the Rath Yatra celebration. Niladri Bije will take place this year on July 12. The majestic chariots are pulled by thousands of worshippers who assemble at Puri. Only once a year, according to popular belief, does Lord Jagannath, the Supreme Being who rules over the entire universe, emerge from the temple to see his followers who are unable to enter. The Rath Yatra has great significance for those looking for “moksha.” It’s said that anyone who pulls, touches, or simply catches a glimpse of the idols atop the chariots pulled by the gods will be saved.

Rituals:

The Gundicha Temple is prepared for Lord Jagannatha’s comfortable stay by his followers before the Rath Yatra. For Lord Jagannatha, his brother Balabhadra, and sister Subhadra, three distinct chariots aWre prepared on the day of the yatra. In order to get there, a large crowd pulls the chariots of all three. The chariots of Lord Balabhadra, Lord Jagannath, and goddess Subhadra are each given the names Taladhwaja, Nandighosha, and Darpadalan, respectively. The servitors in a customary procession known as Pahandi Bije carry the deities to the chariots on the Rath Yatra day. The chariots are then cleaned thoroughly by the king of Puri, also known as Gajapati and Lord Jagannath’s first servant. During this event, the ritual of sweeping the chariots also takes place which is known as Chhera Pahara. Following this ceremony, the worshippers draw the chariots towards the direction of the Gundicha shrine.

Final Words:

Finally, the Pahandi rituals for the Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath started in Odisha’s Puri. This time devotees are allowed to participate in the Rath Yatra after a gap of two years following the Covid pandemic. Expecting the huge crowd in Puri, Odisha Police have made foolproof security arrangements.

FUELBUDDY FUELBUDDY’S QUEST TO DIGITISE AND DEMOCRATIZE FUEL DELIVERY IN INDIA GAUTAM MALHOTRA Managing Director

Kirti Anand | Business Connect

T

Currently, the services offered by FuelBuddy can be classified into three segments:

As category creators, FuelBuddy is the first in the country to start a new segment, and the journey has been an arduous one. The team’s first obstacle was negotiating the rules, and they collaborated with the various government departments to realise their vision. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, DPIM, and NITI Aayog all provided them with tremendous support as they worked together to get the required approvals to distribute fuel to clients in India.

PRODUCTS

he journey of FuelBuddy began in 2017, when the founders Adnan Kidwai, Divij Talwar and Gautam Malhotra joined efforts in looking for opportunities to create something disruptive. It was with this vision that FuelBuddy was set up. The objective was very clear: to become the top energy distribution company in the country by making tech the centre of all its endeavours.

Most of the consumers in India were unfamiliar with this notion, and that became another hurdle to be crossed. “In the beginning, we had to spend a lot of time convincing the consumer that, indeed, fuel can be delivered to their doorstep. We devised a unique selling proposition that we used to communicate our value to the customers,” the Managing Director Mr Gautham Malhotra said. Finally, with the support of teams on both the operational and business sides, the company has been able to overcome all its challenges and maintain a leading position in the market.

36

Giving a detailed introduction of his journey so far, Avinash asserts, “I have completed my MBA Graduate in 2011, and after completing my study, I joined my family business which was in Varanasi in October 2011. My father engaged in the battery business where he wholesaled many different brands of batteries and supplied batteries to the retailer. I remembered in 2015 I was thinking to start my own business in different fields. Many ideas come to mind, but unfortunately, I can’t plan my business in better ways because to start any there are lots of challenges come in ways like planning, administration, funds, and manpower so I found the different schemes of government where I can change all these challenges into opportunity, so I finally plan to start E-waste business with the help of government schemes. We started this business to fulfilling the needs of recycling e-waste management. As currents days we know how the different kinds of pollution challenging us globally. Among the total variants of pollution, one of them is E-waste pollution. We are planning the E-waste recycling business for this problem in some manner. One more thing we have to add is that we are planning to recycle especially PCB, which occurred from e-waste. As we know there are different kinds of PCB globally.

We are planning to recycle Tier 1 PCB & Tier 2 PCB, where we extract more objects in these types of PCB. After some time, we are also planning to expand our business in a global manner where we can purchase raw material from the global market and also sell our product in the international market.” “The company heads forward with its values based on benefits for society, government, science & technology. This means we can create more jobs, a nature-friendly process, and obey government laws and processes based on science & technology. The company vision is clear that we are directly connected with different kinds of IT companies, government institutions, PSU & also an international market for the purchase of raw materials. We are planning to enlarge our startup in part of the country (India), where we set up four major E-waste recycling plants in India. We get the raw material from the local market as well as import also. Strategies can change according to the situation. These days see in India, where numbers of start-ups start in different sectors in the market with their life-changing ideas. We get this idea when the government focuses on one nation, one product, vocal for local, one nation, one tax, and many other motivational ideas. And specially, Atam Nirbhar Bharat. In the current times, we see how China is forced to buy their cheap product, which is low cost. After that, we plan to start our venture for which we make ourselves independent.”- Avinash Singh.

M CHOLESTEROL symptoms

The Hidden Warning Signs That People Mistake As ‘Getting Older’

www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 4 | Special Edition July 2022 INDIA

ajor health problems are linked to high cholesterol. The primary cause of major illnesses such as cardiovascular disease, peripheral arterial disease, coronary artery disease, and stroke is the accumulation of plaques built on by the presence of excessive amounts of cholesterol in the body. High cholesterol is commonly referred to as the silent killer since it has no symptoms. There are no outward and direct indications of an increase in cholesterol levels in the body. However, if cholesterol level stays high consistently, it clogs up the arteries that supply blood to the extremities and this can cause symptoms. The phenomenon is called peripheral artery disease (PAD) and can cause mild leg pain named as “claudication.” People generally credit this type of mild leg pain to “getting older and slowing down” There are some other signs of less blood flow in the lower limbs: • loss of leg hair • foot ulcers that don’t heal Recurring leg pain while doing exercise is also a significant sign. As per health experts, many people mistakenly think that it is just a part of getting older, but it doesn’t get digested why an otherwise healthy person should feel leg pain.

Why is It Problematic?

Cholesterol is vital for many bodily functions but this fatty and waxy substance is extremely lethal if it exceeds the normal

38

level. Cholesterol plays a critical role in creation of cell membranes and hormones. While deciding whether a person has excessive cholesterol or not, mostly two types of cholesterol are analysed. They are low density lipoproteins (LDL), often known as “bad cholesterol,” and high-density lipoprotein (HDL), also known as “good cholesterol,” There are triglycerides in the body which are used as a stored energy source. Triglyceride levels rise in the body while not in use, which raises your chance of developing heart disease.

Gender

Women who have reached menopause or are over 55 tend to have LDL cholesterol levels that are lower than those of males. The HDL cholesterol levels of males are typically greater than those of women.

Normal Cholesterol Level

The amount of low- density lipoproteins, high density lipoproteins, and triglycerides are taken into consideration when calculating the total cholesterol level. LDL cholesterol levels have to be under 70 milligrams per decilitre under ideal circumstances. When it comes to low density lipoproteins, a range of 100 to 130 milligrams per decilitre is considered normal for those who do not have any risk factors. The Harvard study states that “It also affects how much cholesterol is present in high density lipoproteins. Stroke, heart disease, and atherosclerosis are more likely to occur in people with levels below 40 mg/dL. A triglyceride level of less than 150 mg/dL is generally regarded as a desirable target.”

The Signs of High Cholesterol Level

Diet

Heavy cholesterol levels are known to be influenced by diets high in cholesterol, saturated fat, and trans fats. The majority of animal and full-fat dairy products as well as some oils that are solid at room temperature are rich in saturated fat.

Typically, high cholesterol doesn’t show any symptoms until it causes a medical emergency, such as a heart attack or stroke. Such types of heart disease take place only when high levels of cholesterol have led to fatty plaque buildup in the arteries. This results in narrowing the arteries and altering the composition of the arterial lining, which is also known as heart disease. High cholesterol damages the heart over time, and early warning signals of a damaged heart, if discovered in time, can assist in receiving medical care as needed: Watch out for following red flags: • Chest Pain or angina • Nausea • Numbness • Difficulty in speaking • Fatigue • Blood pressure rising

Exercise

Causes and Risks Factors Heredity

Ways to Lower Cholesterol

You are also more likely to have high cholesterol if your family has a history of heart disease or high cholesterol.

Age

Everyone’s risk of high cholesterol rises with age due to age-related metabolic changes, particularly how the liver eliminates LDL cholesterol from the blood.

Moderate to vigorous exercise can raise HDL cholesterol levels and reduce LDL cholesterol particle size, making it less hazardous.

Obesity

Obesity is associated with increased levels of triglycerides, HDL cholesterol, and LDL cholesterol. Body mass index (BMI) over 30 is considered as obesity. Although those who are overweight or obese according to the BMI scale are more likely to have high cholesterol, high cholesterol can also afflict those who have a lower BMI.

Diagnosis

Your cholesterol level may be determined by a quick blood test known as a lipoprotein profile. Triglycerides, a kind of blood fat, are often reported along with your total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, and triglycerides. You must refrain from eating or drinking anything other than water for at least 9 to 12 hours before the test when you’re ready for it. Some cholesterol tests, however, do not call for fasting. Consult your doctor to check this. In order to stay healthy and not let cholesterol make you feel old, you must do the things that prevent the cholesterol level getting high. Get into following activities to keep the high cholesterol level at bay. Lifestyle Change: Smoking and drinking have adverse effects on overall health and not indulging in them prevent high cholesterol and heart disease. Regular Exercise: Experts recommend that adults should get at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise every week. Healthy Diet: Avoid red meat and full fat dairy products as they have saturated fats that raise total cholesterol. Instead go for vegetable oils, oats, beans, oily fish, avocados, and other foods which raise HDL cholesterol levels while lowering LDL cholesterol.

Who doesn’t admire long, shiny and thick hair? They not only enhance your looks but also are a sign of good health. Each strand of hair is made of cells that contain tough protein called keratin. To make your hair long and strong, the keratin must be nourished with minerals and vitamins. We have enlisted a few foods which can help you maintain the health of your hair and keep them strong and healthy. Read on! HERE ARE SOME FOODS WHICH ARE GOOD FOR YOUR HAIR. 1.

SWEET POTATO

Have dry hair that has lost its radiance? Sweet potatoes are high in beta carotene which is a beneficial antioxidant. The body converts beta carotene into vitamin A. This helps to prevent dry, lifeless hair. It also stimulates the glands in your scalp to produce sebum, an oily fluid that maintains your hair from drying out. Other foods that contain beta carotene include carrots, pumpkin, cantaloupe, and mangoes.

2. EGGS

Eating eggs will fulfil your needs for protein and iron. The B vitamin biotin, which promotes hair growth, is abundant in them. The loss of hair can be caused by a lack of this vitamin. Fingernails that are brittle can also be strengthened with biotin. Since eggs are a great source of biotin and our hair is primarily formed of protein, it’s crucial to eat plenty of these foods. Try them scrambled in avocado oil for an added nutritional boost, or enjoy them hard-boiled for a delicious alternative.

3. GREEK YOGURT

Yogurt is great in taste and enhances the nutrients in every diet. What makes it different from regular yogurt is its high protein and less sugar. Its protein gives your hair their structure. Greek yoghurt also contains a component that promotes hair growth and blood flow to the scalp. It is known as pantothenic acid or vitamin B5 and may even prevent hair loss and thinning. Your hair and skincare product labels may list pantothenic acid as an ingredient.

4. SPINACH

An excellent source of vitamins A and C, iron, folate, and other essential elements, spinach is a leafy green vegetable that’s great for your health and good for your hair. The development of hair may benefit from vitamin A. However, if taken in overdose, it might result in hair loss. Eating meals high in this essential nutrient should allow you to obtain all the vitamin A you require.

www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 4 | Special Edition July 2022 INDIA

44

You may get up to 20% of your recommended daily intake of vitamin A from a cup (30 grammes) of spinach. Further, iron, which is necessary for the development of hair, is abundant in spinach. As oxygen fuels your metabolism and supports development and repair, iron helps red blood cells transport it throughout the body.

5.

LEGUMES

Lentils and beans are legumes, which are rich in biotin, zinc, iron, and other nutrients that are good for hair. St. Surin-Lord writes that biotin “strengthens the structure of keratin, which constitutes the hair, skin, and nails.” It strengthens hair and increases its thickness and resistance to breaking. If you’re a vegetarian or vegan, legumes are a fantastic source of protein.

6. OYSTER

These are zinc-rich. You may lose hair, even in your eyelashes, if your diet is deficient in this element. Zinc is necessary for hair-building cells to function at their peak levels. Beef, crab, lobster, fortified cereal, and other seafood also contain this mineral.

7.

CITRUS FRUITS

Citrus fruits should be a part of your diet since your body needs vitamin C to absorb iron. Nutritionists advise consuming one lime every day to get your recommended daily intake of vitamin C. To solve your problem, just prepare a cold glass of nimbu paani (with honey or a healthy substitute for refined sugar). Oranges are another option. Also, vitamin C is necessary for the synthesis of collagen, which strengthens the capillaries that link to the hair shafts and ensures a steady supply of nutrients and rapid hair development.

8. NUTS

Nuts are delicious, practical, and full of nutrients that are vital for healthy hair development. For instance, an amazing ounce (28 grams) of almonds supplies 48 percent of your daily vitamin E requirements. They also offer a variety of B vitamins, zinc, and essential fatty acids. Any of these vitamin deficiencies have been associated with hair loss. In addition to promoting hair development, nuts have been associated with a number of other health advantages, such as lowered risk of heart disease and inflammation. Because of this, nuts are a great and simple addition to your diet.

9. AVOCADO

Avocados Are Vitamin-Rich. Vitamin E enhances blood flow and makes follicles function more effectively to encourage hair growth.

FINAL WORDS

Additionally, it keeps the balance of the oil and PH levels, which if out of balance can block hair follicles and prevent hair growth.

Everything you eat affects your overall health. Hair is no exception. If there is a lack of essential nutrients e.g., iron, biotin, protein, fatty acid and vitamins like A, B, C, D & E, it will reflect through your hair as hair loss or slow hair growth.

Avocados contain a lot of heart-healthy monounsaturated fats and are a fantastic source of vitamin E. You may incorporate it into a green smoothie or your morning salad.

10. CHIA SEEDS

Luckily, we have so many foods, some of which suggested in the list above can help you maintain the health of your hair and keep them thick, shiny and healthy. In case you think you lack the right nutrients for hair, start adding these foods in your diet daily.

Chia seeds are a fantastic superfood if you want to maintain good hair development since they are high in protein, (healthy) fat, and zinc. Moreover, they are rich in antioxidants, which help prevent early aging symptoms like hair loss. To reach your goal, add a teaspoon to your overnight oats or your morning smoothie.

Paracosma Inc Where Virtual Reality Meets with Business Reality Kajal Dobhal | Business Connect

I

n its brand-new edition, Business Connect Magazine (BCM) presents the inside stories of a few most trusted AR/VR companies. One such company Paracosma Inc. is an AR/VR design, consulting and systems integration company that has made an exceptional mark in the relevant industry owing to its matchless services (content creation, application development, and project implementation). In a virtual coffee session with our team, Ken Ehrhart, Founder & CEO, walked us through the company’s exclusive strategies to maintain the trust of its diverse clientele. BCM : Please walk us through your company profile and offered products/services. KEN EHRHART : Paracosma is an Augmented and Virtual Reality Solutions Provider founded in 2016. We offer AR/VR Application Development as well as 3D Content Creation Services, including photorealistic modeling, digital twin creation, and 360 video production and distribution. We currently have 75 employees across our US headquarters, Japan sales and technology office and Nepal development center. BCM : Our Team has recognized Paracosma as one of the “10 Most Trusted AR/AR Companies 2021”, how do you view that selection? KEN EHRHART : As a Solutions Provider, our business is dependent on the success of our clients, on the success of the work we do for them. In this case, Trust refers to the Trust our clients place in us to solve their business problems and deliver our services at both the highest quality and most affordable pricing. We are honored that this recognition follows on from being recognized as one of the “10 Most Trusted AR/VR Companies in 2020” and one of the “20 Most Trusted AR/VR Companies 2019”. We would be disappointed if we were not meeting this standard of Trust consistently year after year. BCM : Some might say “Trust” is a subjective term. How do you quantify and measure Trust? KEN EHRHART : We think the simplest way to measure customer trust is whether our clients become repeat customers. If they had a good experience with our company and the quality of our services, then they Trust that we will continue delivering on our promises and they continue as a customer. In 2018, 37% of our revenues came from repeat business with existing clients. In 2019, 78% of revenues came from repeat business. And, in 2020, fully 97% of our business came from repeat business from existing customers. This expansion of repeat business has also been in the context of great growth. From 2019 to 2020, revenues from repeat business with existing customers increased 95%. We view this as a clear validation of the Trust our customers place in us.

.

BCM : That is remarkable. With a SAAS or other subscription business we expect to see client retention driving recurring revenue. But, it is exceptional to see a Services business in which such a high proportion of business is repeat business. Generally, it is thought that Services businesses reset to zero each year. What is your secret to growing recurring revenue? KEN EHRHART : Our success in growing recurring revenue comes from both the high value of our service, our high quality at low prices, but also the value, the return on investment (ROI) that our clients derive from AR, VR and other 3D solutions. As long ago as 2016, when we founded Paracosma, surveys showed that of the business enterprises that had tried AR or VR, all or virtually all of them intended to continue or increase their adoption. We find this very much to be the case, that once clients see the value of AR/VR and 3D, they accelerate their use. Once our clients begin a successful proof of concept with us, they continue to a pilot and then full deployment. Also, demand for many of our services, such as 3D model creation is often an ongoing business requirement for our clients, it is not a one-time need. In some cases, our repeat-client business scales as fast as we can hire and train artists and engineers. BCM : When commentators assess the health of the AR or VR Industry they often look at headset sales or hit video games. How do you view the health of the industry?

KEN EHRHART

KEN EHRHART : Years ago, I think we would have weighed some of the same factors. Even last year we saw supply-chain constraints at the start of the pandemic that reduced headset availability just when some hit games became available. Yet, by the end of 2020, the Oculus Quest 2 headset was recognized as a huge success and we have seen the Quest ecosystem expand with numerous hit games and apps. Yet, we have found our business propelled by a broader business trend. We find that businesses, technology and computing generally are undergoing a shift from 2D systems to 3D. This is reflected across all industries. From 3D printing to self-driving cars, most sectors are enabled by moving to 3D computing. Similarly, part of our business is replacing traditional studio photography with renders of photo-realistic 3D models and entire scenes made from those models. This produces a huge ROI completely independent of the adoption of AR and VR. We are also using 3D game engines to create simulations of the real world, so we can generate synthetic images and videos for training machine-vision deep learning AI (artificial intelligence). We see business and growth opportunities well beyond AR and VR headset adoption.

CEO, Paracosma Inc. improve upon and expand upon what we have already done for our clients. We want to advance with them to the next better way of doing things. BCM : Customer Trust is built over time. What is your value proposition for first-time clients? KEN EHRHART : Because of our large team and 5 years of experience, we really offer a one-stop shop for AR, VR and 3D services such as modeling. We can create good looking models of food as well as the AR application to display the models to clients ordering in a restaurant. We can offer a machine maintenance AR application that seamlessly displays 3D spatial information. We can go from concept to realization for a 3D communications app. We can deliver a three-day, three-venue international film festival in VR as well as Virtual office campuses. And, no matter what service we are delivering each client will know that our goal is their long-term success, because we seek to have their repeat business over many years and many projects.

BCM : How do these big changes in technology impact client Trust?

BCM : What is your advice for new companies and entrepreneurs just starting out? How do they build Trust?

KEN EHRHART : Every potential client has a preconceived idea of AR and VR. Often that image or vision is beyond what current technology is capable of. From our earliest customer conversations we find ourselves assessing whether or not the customer’s vision is possible. Can it be achieved with existing technology? Is it theoretically possible but needs to be developed? Will it need to wait for future innovations? Being honest about what is possible, allows us to join with our clients on a journey. We can deliver what is possible today as well as plan a roadmap that encompasses their full vision in the future. This also becomes the foundation for long-term repeatbusiness relationships, because that journey plays out over time. Similarly, we are constantly striving to innovate and push the limits of what is possible technologically, because we want to

KEN EHRHART : Customers want to be treated with respect. Begin with Trusting your clients. Trust that they can understand the technology options and participate in choosing the best solution for their problem. Trust that they can understand why each service requires the time or money commitment you specify. Be clear about what is or is not possible. Then deliver on your promises. Clients who have found success in working with you will want to continue to build on that success, both for their business and yours. Our clients want us to be successful because they recognize that the stronger we grow the more effective we can be in meeting their needs. 47

ANAND GD

The Humble Being Behind TCFM’s Phenomenal Success Indranil Roy | Business Connect

T

he facility management sector is rapidly growing in India. Since the last decade, the dynamics of this service has aided sustainable growth across industries. Whilst ensuring the safety and hygiene of employees, the reduction of carbon footprints during project development to transition too is noteworthy. Constructions appear when an architect translates aesthetic ideas into reality that represents luxury and panache. Hiring a professional facility management firm ensures the dream lasts the sands of time. But, behind the optimacy are ingenious minds, who oversee day-to-day operations and uphold the culture of a business. In simple words, it is a COO (Chief Operations Officer), who shoulders everyday operations to ensure overall excellence. COO is usually the second-incommand in a business foundation and undoubtedly one of the highest designations. While other labels like CMO, CTO, CFO, etc. have a focused responsibility, a COO has to oversee all of them. In other words, COO can be compared - to the Chief Of Staff in Naval Command! But despite having such a prominent role, COOs are often perceived with ambiguities regarding their duties. Being the second-in-command, he needs to carry out the CEOs decision and ensure every idea and concept sees development. Business Connect Magazine recognizes the day-to-day ordeals of a COO and through its upcoming edition, “COO of the Year 2021”, aims to empower their importance. Featured below is the story of Anand GD, COO of TCFM (Technique Control Facility Management), one of the fastest-growing Facility Management providers in Pan India. Having around 2 decades of experience in overseeing operations, Anand has been integral in TCFM’s expansion that grows over new business horizons. A PAN-INDIA ORGANISATION TCFM is a 100% owned subsidiary of Embassy Services Pvt. Ltd. (ESPL), one of the largest and trusted names in Facility Management with a lineage of over 25 years. TCFM took its first step in 1995 in Europe and with the emerging opportunities forayed into the Indian Market in 2009.
