Dear Weston Residents,

PRODUCTIVITY AND BLESSINGS FOR A NEW YEAR! It has been an extremely productive year, including the passage of our fiscal year 2023 budget with no increase in the City millage rate while maintaining the same high-quality services that our residents desire. There have been many accomplishments in the last 12 months, including: Initiating the Parks Master Plan, Economic Development Existing Conditions Analysis, and Community Surveys; Initiated a WestonGov Academy; Received Financial Reporting Awards, Communication AND Park & Recreation Awards; EMS received reaccreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services; Conducted CPR demo onsite or virtual to over 300 residents; Provided bleeding control awareness training to over 1,600; Construction of four pickleball courts and resurfaced basketball courts at Regional, shade structures at Tequesta, tennis court lighting at Emerald Estates and a new skate park at Tequesta Trace, and two batting cages at Vista Park; The Building Department achieved a Class 2 rating from the Insurance Services Office, Inc. for commercial properties and a Class 3 rating for residential properties; Fire Services completed 100% of commercial & multi-family fire safety inspections, provided fire safety education to 8,305 people through events. We initiated Surtax Funded projects including bike lanes pavement markings, Meridian Business Campus sidewalk repairs and maintenance, Indian Trace Road improvements design, Weston Road bike and pedestrian improvements design and bicycle wayfinding signage, Royal Palm Boulevard & Weston Road intersection improvements and Sailboat Circle drainage improvements. It was a busy and successful year. In November, almost 200 public and private schools will participate in the Annual Harvest Drive that was initiated 30 years ago by local volunteers, with Country Isles Elementary School as the original distribution site. Harvest Drive provides a complete Thanksgiving meal and a weeks-worth of grocery and personal necessities to over 2,400 food insecure families in Broward County. Please do what you can to help children help other children, so no child goes hungry. Visit Harvestdriveflorida.com. As winter bestows upon Florida the weather we have all been waiting for, our events season this year moves into full swing. The City, in conjunction with the Arts Council of Greater Weston, offers fun events for families. These include monthly Moonlight Movies in the Park, magician and puppet shows at the Weston Community Center for children, Symphony concerts - both ticketed and free, a Foreign Film Series, the free WestonNights Outdoor Concert series, the Winter Safety Expo, Celebrate the Arts, Weston World Fest, the Royal Egg Hunt, and more. I also look forward to seeing all Weston elementary students at the Commission Cup 1-Mile Health Walk on December 4th. Please look for details of these and other events on our website at WestonFL.org/Events. For the holidays, we stress vigilance to not leave valuables in sight in vehicles, and to always lock car doors and take your key fob with you. Weston is a safe community, but whether you are running into the gym, dropping a child at day care, or pumping gas, remember to – Lock it, Don’t Lose it. Lastly, with every New Year comes a renewed sense of spirit, hope, and commitment. On behalf of the entire City Commission and staff, we wish you and your families a safe, happy, and healthy holiday season and New Year. Be Safe and Have Fun!
